Bert's Pigeon Search is the ninth episode of season 41 of the beloved children's show Sesame Street. In this episode, Bert becomes obsessed with finding his lost pet pigeon, Bernice. He enlists the help of his good friend Ernie, and together they search high and low throughout Sesame Street.
Throughout the episode, Bert and Ernie encounter various characters who lend a helping hand in the search for Bernice. They visit Big Bird, who suggests they look in the birdhouse. They also visit Oscar the Grouch, who is no help whatsoever and suggests that they give up the search altogether.
The duo even brings in a specialist, Sherlock Hemlock, who leads them on a wild goose chase around Sesame Street, searching for clues to Bernice's whereabouts. However, their search proves fruitless, and they still haven't found Bernice.
As the episode progresses, Bert becomes more and more distraught over the loss of his beloved Bernice. He worries that she's hungry or hurt, and he feels guilty for losing her in the first place. Ernie tries to offer words of encouragement, telling Bert that they'll find Bernice and that the pigeon is probably just taking a little vacation.
Just when it seems like all hope is lost, Bert and Ernie receive a surprise visit. A man named Mr. Pigeon Man shows up, carrying a birdcage with Bert's pigeon, Bernice, inside. Bernice had apparently been hanging out with Mr. Pigeon Man's flock of pigeons and had become quite popular among them.
Bert and Ernie are overjoyed to have found Bernice and immediately take her home. They thank Mr. Pigeon Man for his help and invite him to visit them anytime.
Overall, Bert's Pigeon Search is a heartwarming episode that teaches children about the importance of perseverance and never giving up. The episode also addresses feelings of guilt and worry, showing children that it's perfectly normal to feel these emotions and that it's okay to ask for help when needed. With its lovable characters and positive message, this episode is sure to become a fan favorite for years to come.
