Jack's Grows His Own Beanstalk is the twenty-fifth episode of the fortieth season of Sesame Street, the beloved educational children's television series created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett. The episode follows a classic fairy tale theme, as it features a retelling of the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, but with a twist.
The episode begins with Elmo and Abby Cadabby visiting Jack's beanstalk farm. Jack, a young farmer, is attempting to grow a giant beanstalk, but he's having some trouble. He tells Elmo and Abby that he's been watering the beanstalk every day, but it still hasn't grown. Elmo suggests that Jack needs to sing to the beanstalk to make it grow faster, which leads to a musical number where Elmo, Abby, and Jack sing a song about the importance of caring for plants.
As they sing, Jack suddenly realizes that he's been neglecting his beanstalk. He hasn't been giving it enough sunlight, and he hasn't been taking care of the soil. With Elmo and Abby's help, Jack corrects his mistakes and the beanstalk starts to grow. However, it doesn't grow into the giant plant that Jack was hoping for. Instead, it grows into a small beanstalk.
Disappointed, Jack considers giving up on his dream of growing a giant beanstalk. However, Elmo and Abby encourage him to keep trying and offer some advice. Abby suggests that Jack try using magic to grow his beanstalk. She teaches him a few magic words and tells him to sprinkle some fairy dust over the plant.
Excited to try out this new method, Jack sprinkles the fairy dust over his beanstalk. To his surprise, the beanstalk begins to grow rapidly, reaching up into the sky and disappearing from sight. Jack excitedly climbs the beanstalk to see where it leads.
At the top of the beanstalk, Jack finds a magical land filled with talking animals and fairies. He meets a friendly giant named Big Jeff, who offers to give Jack some magical beans. Jack accepts the beans, thanks Big Jeff, and climbs back down the beanstalk to give Elmo and Abby the good news.
When Jack arrives back at his farm, he tells Elmo and Abby about his adventure and shows them the magical beans. However, he's unsure about whether or not he should plant them. Abby tells Jack that he should always follow his dreams, no matter how big or small they may seem.
Jack plants the magical beans and sings to them, just like he did with his first beanstalk. To his surprise, the beans sprout another giant beanstalk, which takes him and his friends to a new adventure in the magical world.
The episode concludes with a musical number in which Elmo, Abby, and Jack sing about the importance of following your dreams and never giving up. The episode aims to teach children that growing plants require love, care, and patience, and that they should always persevere in chasing their dreams.
