In the season 9 premiere of Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee, titled "Remakes: Tyler and Emeril," Sandra Lee is joined by guest chefs Tyler Florence and Emeril Lagasse as they revamp some classic dishes with their own unique twists.
First up, Tyler Florence takes on the classic BLT sandwich, but with a few upgrades. He uses a homemade brioche bun, tops it with a bacon jam, and adds crispy pork belly in addition to the traditional bacon. Sandra pitches in by making an avocado aioli to spread on the bun.
Next, Emeril Lagasse puts his spin on another classic sandwich - the grilled cheese. He uses a combo of fontina and cheddar cheeses, along with caramelized onions and thinly sliced prosciutto to create a truly gourmet grilled cheese. Sandra contributes by making a homemade tomato soup to pair with the sandwich.
For the main dish, the three chefs take on chicken pot pie. Tyler Florence creates a unique version with a cornbread crust, while Emeril Lagasse adds a NOLA twist with creole spices and a biscuit crust. Sandra Lee opts for a more traditional approach with a puff pastry crust, but adds in some extra veggies for a healthier spin.
Finally, for dessert, the trio creates three remakes of classic pies. Tyler Florence takes on apple pie, but swaps out the traditional crust for a crumb topping. Emeril Lagasse tackles cherry pie, but adds in some dark chocolate chunks for an extra indulgent touch. And Sandra Lee puts her spin on pecan pie with a pecan strudel topping.
Throughout the episode, the chefs share their tips and tricks for cooking and entertaining, as well as their own personal stories and experiences in the culinary world. Viewers can expect a fun and informative hour of cooking with some of the biggest names in the business.
