In Seinfeld season 9 episode 2, titled "The Voice," Jerry decides to record all of his conversations with his girlfriend, Marla, using a tape recorder hidden in his coat pocket. He wants to catch her saying something embarrassing so he can use it as leverage against her in case she ever tries to break up with him.
Meanwhile, George is worried about his boss, Mr. Kruger, finding out that he doesn't actually work for the New York Yankees anymore. He accidentally left his briefcase at Yankee Stadium, which contains all of his fake work documents, and must retrieve it before Mr. Kruger finds out the truth.
Elaine, on the other hand, becomes obsessed with a man's voice she hears on the phone while trying to order Chinese food. She finds herself constantly calling the restaurant just to hear his voice and eventually convinces him to meet her in person.
As the episode progresses, Jerry's plan to catch Marla saying something embarrassing backfires when he accidentally records himself making inappropriate comments. George's briefcase goes missing at Yankee Stadium, causing him to frantically search for it before Mr. Kruger can find out the truth about his job. Meanwhile, Elaine finally meets the mysterious voice on the phone and becomes disappointed when she realizes he doesn't look anything like she imagined.
Throughout the episode, the characters' neurotic tendencies and bizarre situations culminate in a hilarious and memorable episode of Seinfeld. As always, the humor is dry and the scenarios are relatable, making "The Voice" a classic addition to the show's ninth and final season.
