Jerry Seinfeld and his friend George Costanza visit their childhood hangout, Mario's Pizza, which George frequented to play the arcade game Frogger. When they arrive, they surprisingly find out that the restaurant is closing and that Mario, the owner, is retiring. George, eager to own a piece of his childhood, asks Mario how much he wants for the Frogger machine. Mario states that he is willing to sell it for $1,000.
Meanwhile, Elaine Benes starts dating a man named Edward who was once named "The Maestro" for his classical music conducting skills. He is now a recluse who has denounced music and operates a business cleaning up pet excrement called "Edward's Clean Sweep". Elaine finds it difficult to convince him to conduct the orchestra for a benefit concert she is organizing.
Jerry decides to buy George the Frogger machine as a nostalgic gift, but on the way to Mario’s Piazza, he must avoid traffic and maintain the high-score by avoiding the machine’s wires. Upon arriving, he and George realizes that they don't know how to get the giant, childhood memory they are holding across the busy streets of New York City. Jerry leaves to find help, causing George to guard the machine as if it were his child.
George’s obsession with the Frogger machine culminates in his trying to move it across the street to avoid losing its high score. The attempt turns into an elaborate game of Frogger itself, leading to humorous situations that play homage to the original game. At one point, George's attempt prevents a van from crashing into a man on the street and gains nationwide recognition as a hero.
Later, at the restaurant where Elaine’s benefit is taking place, Jerry takes a bite out of a tart that he thought was a pastry, but it turns out to be made of cement-like material that broke Jerry's tooth. Elaine is mortified when Edward conducts a sloppy orchestra performance, so she locks him in a supply closet where he goes through withdrawals.
In the end, Jerry and George together attempt to save George’s high score on the Frogger machine, but they fail. The machine is smashed by a truck leading to George's loss of his childhood memory and, in his mind, a heroic moment that ended his adult life. The episode ends with Jerry and George brainstorming other childhood things they can buy to preserve their youth.
