Jerry and Elaine are enjoying a lazy day by the pool in Jerry's building when they meet Newman's friend, the pool guy, AKA Tony. Elaine is immediately smitten with Tony, and Jerry is suspicious of his intentions. Meanwhile, George is dealing with some tough news from Susan. Her parents are coming to town, and he's nervous about impressing them.
At the same time, Kramer is convinced that he can swim in the east river and become the first person to do so. When Jerry and Elaine tell him about Tony, he decides to join in on their pool day. When they all get together, Tony immediately begins to flirt with Elaine, causing tension between her and Jerry.
Back in the apartment, George is frantically trying to prepare for Susan's parents' arrival. He's convinced that they won't like him and that he needs to make a good impression. His attempts include buying an expensive suit, hiring an interior decorator to spruce up the apartment, and even hiring a "professional" to build a cocktail table.
Meanwhile, Jerry is growing increasingly suspicious of Tony's true intentions. He believes that Tony is taking advantage of Newman's access to people's apartments to steal from them. When he confronts Tony, Tony claims that Jerry is just jealous of him and denies any wrongdoing.
The tension between Jerry and Elaine grows as Tony continues to flirt with her, and Jerry's suspicions drive them apart. George's attempts at impressing Susan's parents prove to be futile when they arrive and immediately hate everything he's done.
As the episode comes to a close, Kramer finally swims in the east river only to be immediately taken out by a fishing boat. Elaine and Jerry make up, and George realizes that he doesn't need to impress Susan's parents because he and Susan love each other for who they are.
Overall, "The Pool Guy" is a classic Seinfeld episode filled with wacky situations and misadventures. From Kramer's swimming ambitions to George's attempts at impressing his girlfriend's parents, the episode is full of humor and heart. With standout performances from the entire cast, "The Pool Guy" is a must-watch for any Seinfeld fan.
