Jerry and his girlfriend Rachel plan to spend a weekend at her parent's lakeside cabin. However, before they leave, Jerry receives a call from his childhood friend, who is now 23-year-old Bubble Boy named Donald. Donald has a rare immune disorder, and he lives in a plastic bubble that prevents contact with the outside world. Donald's father invites Jerry and Rachel to visit his son before they leave for their trip.
Once they arrive at the Bubble Boy's house, they learn that his mother and father are not getting along. Donald's mother is convinced that her husband is cheating on her with his secretary, and she shares her suspicions with Jerry and Rachel. Meanwhile, Donald challenges Jerry to a game of Trivial Pursuit, and the competition gets heated when they disagree on the answer to a question. As Jerry tries to make amends, he accidentally punctures the bubble, causing Donald to have an allergic reaction.
To make matters worse, the group becomes lost on the winding roads of upstate New York. A flat tire leaves them stranded in the middle of nowhere, and they seek refuge at a nearby farmhouse. The farmer, who is armed with a shotgun, becomes hostile when he learns that they are lost and decides to hold them hostage. The situation becomes more tense when the farmer learns that one of them has a condition preventing him from leaving the house.
Meanwhile, back in New York City, George and Susan plan a weekend alone at his parents' condo. However, George becomes obsessively fixated on a question about the lyrics to a children's song, "The Wheels on the Bus." He cannot remember the line "the wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish," and it consumes him. The more people try to help him remember, the more frustrated and embarrassed he becomes.
As the various plotlines intersect, the characters must navigate their way out of difficult and comedic situations. The Bubble Boy proves to be a memorable episode of Seinfeld, showcasing the series' unique blend of humor and absurdity.
