Jerry receives a call from his parents that they are in town. He goes to visit them and his mother hands him a key to their Florida condo. Jerry tries to refuse, but his mother insists that he take it. Jerry realizes that having the key will give him the opportunity to use their place in Florida and invites Elaine to go with him. But when they arrive, they are disappointed to find that the place is not as glamorous as they thought it would be.
Meanwhile, George starts dating a woman named Marlene who works at the unemployment office. He initially lies and tells her that he is unemployed, thinking it will make him seem more interesting. However, he quickly realizes that this was a mistake when she tries to help him with his job search.
Jerry and Elaine's vacation takes a turn when they cannot find the right key to lock the door to the condo. Jerry becomes increasingly anxious and paranoid about securing the place, going so far as to replace all of the locks. Elaine tries to reassure him that nothing will happen, but Jerry remains convinced that someone will break in.
Back in New York, George becomes increasingly stressed out by his relationship with Marlene. When he goes to her office to try and smooth things over, he inadvertently causes a scene and gets kicked out. Desperate to fix things, he turns to Jerry for advice.
Jerry and Elaine's trip takes another turn when they accidentally lock themselves out of the condo. They are forced to spend the night outside and are later caught by the police trying to break in. The experience makes Jerry realize how much he values his apartment and gives him a newfound appreciation for home security.
In the end, George realizes that honesty is the best policy and tells Marlene the truth about his employment status. Surprisingly, she is not upset by it and they continue to date.
