In "Small But Mighty," the 18th episode of Sea Rescue's fifth season, the SeaWorld rescue team is called to action to save several small but mighty marine animals caught in dangerous predicaments. The episode is a collection of three rescue stories, featuring a tiny harbor seal pup, an injured sea turtle, and a young dolphin.
In the first story, the team rescues a harbor seal pup who has been separated from his mother and stranded on a beach. The pup is only a few weeks old and is incredibly small and vulnerable. The rescuers must work quickly to stabilize the pup, rehydrate him, and transport him to SeaWorld for further care. Once at SeaWorld, the pup is given a full exam, including blood work, X-rays, and ultrasounds. The vets discover that the pup has a severe lung infection and must be given antibiotics to help fight it. The team spends weeks caring for the pup, providing specialized nutrition, physical therapy, and medical treatments. In time, the pup begins to improve, and the team is able to release him back into the wild.
In the second story, the team rescues an injured sea turtle who has been tangled in fishing line. The turtle has a large wound on its flipper and is suffering from dehydration and exhaustion. The turtle is brought to SeaWorld, where vets begin treating its injuries and working to rehydrate the animal. Over the next several weeks, the turtle undergoes a series of surgeries and treatments to repair its flipper and restore its health. Throughout the process, the team is in close contact with other wildlife experts around the country, sharing information and expertise to help save the turtle. After several weeks of care, the turtle is deemed healthy enough to be released back into the wild.
In the final story, the team rescues a young dolphin who has become trapped in a canal. The dolphin is only a few months old and has become separated from its mother. The team uses a specially designed sling to transport the dolphin to SeaWorld, where it is given a full exam. The dolphin is found to be healthy and simply in need of a safe place to grow and develop. Over the next several months, the team works to care for the dolphin, providing specialized nutrition and medical care to help it grow and thrive. Eventually, the team is able to successfully release the dolphin back into the wild, where it will be able to live out its life in freedom.
Overall, "Small But Mighty" is a heartwarming and inspiring episode of Sea Rescue that showcases the incredible work of the SeaWorld rescue team. Through their dedication and expertise, they are able to save the lives of small but mighty animals, helping to protect and preserve the delicate ecosystem of the ocean.
