Mike Nelson, a former Navy diver, leads a thrilling underwater adventure in the episode "Diving for the Moon" from season 2 of the classic TV show "Sea Hunt."

The episode begins with Nelson receiving a frantic call from his friend and fellow diver, Joe. Joe's livelihood, a pearl diving operation, is in danger as they have hit a snag in their latest dive. Desperate for help, Joe enlists Nelson's expertise to retrieve an expensive piece of equipment that is stuck on the ocean floor.

Nelson agrees to help out his friend and heads to the small island where Joe is located. Once there, he meets Joe's crew and they discuss the situation at hand. The piece of equipment in question is a pneumatic drill that the crew needs to continue their work.

Without the drill, they will lose valuable time and money as the pearl beds are only accessible during certain windows of opportunity. Nelson confidently tells Joe that he will retrieve the drill and promises to return it as quickly as possible.

Before plunging into the water, Nelson conducts a quick survey of the area to assess the situation. He finds that the equipment, which is attached to a buoy, is located near a series of underwater caves. Nelson knows that navigating underwater caves is no easy feat and requires a great deal of skill and experience.

Despite this, Nelson puts on his gear and jumps into the water. He swims through the depths and soon finds the drill connected to the buoy. As he prepares to detach it, he notices a peculiar object nearby that he believes to be a meteorite.

Intrigued, Nelson stows the drill and sets out to investigate the object further. He carefully navigates through the underwater caves until he finds the object, which turns out to be a rare moon rock.

Nelson is ecstatic at his discovery and realizes the rock could be worth a great deal of money. However, as he begins his ascent to the surface, he realizes that he has a problem. The rock is heavy and his tanks are nearly empty.

In a moment of desperation, Nelson decides to detach the rock from his gear and trust it to the ocean's current. He hopes that he will be able to retrieve it later on once he has resurfaced.

Nelson successfully makes it to the surface but the rock is nowhere to be found. He searches the area but it seems to have disappeared completely. Disappointed, but not defeated, Nelson rallies back to his task at hand.

He returns the pneumatic drill to Joe, who is relieved to see it, and sets out to dive once again. As he navigates through the cave system, Nelson hears a strange noise and marks the source on his map.

He continues on and treks through the underwater caves until he emerges on the other side. Along the way, he finds the moon rock, which had been carried by the current to a different location.

Ecstatic at his good fortune, Nelson resurfaces and shouts with joy at the sight of the rock. He delivers the equipment back to Joe and the crew, and then sets out to sell the moon rock for a hefty sum.

In the end, "Diving for the Moon" is an exciting and action-packed adventure that showcases Mike Nelson's underwater expertise and tenacity. It's a reminder that, even in the vast and unknown depths of the ocean, the potential for discovery is limitless.
