In Scrubs Season 3 Episode 6 "My Advice to You," Turk struggles with preparing a speech to give at Carla's brother's wedding while J.D. lands himself in trouble after giving one of his patients advice that goes against the hospital's policy.
Turk spends the majority of the episode practicing his speech, but cannot seem to get it right. He enlists the help of J.D. to assist him in perfecting it. J.D. suggests that Turk include stories from his time with Carla to make the speech more personal and heartfelt. Turk takes J.D.'s advice and successfully delivers the speech, much to the delight of Carla's brother and their family.
Meanwhile, J.D. finds himself in hot water after he suggests to one of his patients that they request an unnecessary test, which goes against the hospital's strict cost-containment policy. He is reprimanded by Dr. Kelso, who warns him about making inappropriate recommendations to patients.
Additionally, Elliot is feeling overwhelmed with her workload and turns to Dr. Cox for advice on how to better manage her time. Cox suggests that she needs to learn to say "no" to requests from others and to prioritize her tasks.
Throughout the episode, the characters learn the importance of seeking advice and trusting the guidance of those around them. The theme of "my advice to you" is present throughout as the characters navigate their various challenges and seek the counsel of their friends and colleagues.
