Harima, one of the main characters of School Rumble, is still struggling to confess his love to Tenma, the girl he likes. In this episode, Harima's chance to confess to Tenma is ruined when he accidentally brings his pet pig, Hanako, to school. The animal causes chaos in the classroom and Harima is forced to take her home.
Meanwhile, Tenma is trying to convince her friend, Eri, to come to her house to study. Eri is hesitant at first, but eventually agrees. However, when they arrive at Tenma's house, they find themselves locked out and unable to get in. They decide to go to Eri's house instead, but things do not go as planned. Eri's house is huge and elegant, but also haunted by ghosts.
At the same time, Yakumo, Tenma's younger sister, is visiting Harima's house to help him with his manga. Yakumo is a talented artist and Harima wants her to help him improve his drawings. However, their manga session is interrupted by Hanai, a classmate of Harima's, who is looking for a lost frog. Hanai is oblivious to the fact that Harima has a crush on Tenma and insists on staying and chatting with him.
Elsewhere, a kappa, a mythical creature from Japanese folklore, appears in the school's swimming pool and causes a commotion. The students are both frightened and fascinated by the kappa and try to catch it. However, the kappa is too fast and escapes.
Throughout the episode, the characters' lives intersect in unexpected ways. Harima, Tenma, Eri, Yakumo, and Hanai are all connected by the animals they encounter. Despite the chaos and confusion that results from these animal encounters, the characters learn important lessons about friendship, love, and perseverance.
