Tomboys, blackmail, and physical exams are the main themes in episode 2 of School Rumble. The episode begins with Harima, the self-proclaimed bad boy of the school, struggling with an average test score. Meanwhile, Tenma, a ditzy but lovable girl, is freaking out about the school's imminent physical exam. As fate would have it, the two end up in the same bathroom stall, with Harima trying to avoid a group of girls and Tenma trying to avoid the physical exam.
After getting past the chaos of the bathroom, Tenma is relieved to find out the exam has been delayed until the next day. Harima, on the other hand, is approached by Eri, a beautiful and popular student, who asks him for help with her studies. Harima sees this as a chance to get closer to Eri, but things quickly go awry when he realizes he's in over his head. Desperate to keep up appearances, Harima resorts to using a tutor - the same tutor used by Eri!
Meanwhile, Tenma finds herself blackmailed by her friend Mikoto, who has a picture of Tenma in an embarrassing outfit. Mikoto promises to delete the picture if Tenma agrees to do her homework for a week. Being the pushover that she is, Tenma agrees to the deal, but quickly regrets it when she discovers Mikoto's homework is on a whole other level.
As the day of the physical exam arrives, Tenma is once again beside herself with worry. The exam turns out to be just as feared; Tenma's clumsiness causes her to make a fool of herself in front of the entire class. To try and cheer her up, her friends invite her to a karaoke party that evening. But even there, Tenma can't escape her own bad luck, and ends up making another embarrassing mistake.
Overall, episode 2 of School Rumble is a great continuation of the first episode. The show's comedic timing is spot on, with jokes that hit just right. The introduction of new characters adds depth and excitement to the story. Love triangles and rivalries make for an exciting backdrop to the show's silly shenanigans. All in all, it's a great episode that perfectly captures the spirit of School Rumble.
