After Evening Festival is the ninth episode of season one of the Japanese anime School Days. The episode begins with the aftermath of the school's evening festival, where Makoto Itou and Sekai Saionji seem to have grown closer. Kotonoha Katsura, Makoto's childhood friend, notices this and becomes jealous.
Meanwhile, Taisuke Sawanaga, a friend of Makoto's, is also struggling with his own feelings for Kotonoha. He confesses to her but is rejected, causing him to seek comfort in the arms of Sekai. The two spend the night together, much to the disapproval of Makoto.
As the episode progresses, Makoto becomes more and more preoccupied with his growing feelings for Sekai. He even goes as far as to kiss her in an empty classroom, unaware that Kotonoha has witnessed the entire thing.
The situation becomes even more complicated when Makoto tries to speak to Kotonoha about his feelings for Sekai. Kotonoha is devastated but tries to be understanding, even though she can no longer look at Makoto without feeling hurt.
Throughout the episode, the tension between these three characters continues to build. Makoto and Sekai become more intimate, even though Makoto knows that Kotonoha is still in love with him. Taisuke also struggles with his feelings for Kotonoha, leading him to act rashly and make some poor decisions.
As the episode comes to a close, the characters are left to deal with the fallout of their actions. Makoto is torn between his feelings for Sekai and his loyalty to Kotonoha. Sekai is confused about her own emotions and what she wants from Makoto. And Kotonoha is left heartbroken and alone, wondering what she could have done differently.
Overall, After Evening Festival is a tense and emotionally charged episode that sets the stage for even more drama to come. As the love triangle between Makoto, Sekai, and Kotonoha becomes even more complicated, it's clear that none of these characters' lives will ever be the same.
