It's time to head back to Schitt's Creek as the hit Canadian comedy returns for its eagerly anticipated fifth season. Kicking things off is the season premiere, titled "The Crowening."

As fans will remember, the final moments of season four saw the Rose family grapple with the fact that their home, now a multi-million dollar property, was no longer theirs. In this new outing, the family are facing the repercussions of their eviction as they look for a new place to live. Alongside this, David (played by show co-creator Dan Levy), prepares for his store's official launch, enlisting the help of his sister Alexis (Annie Murphy) and business partner Patrick (Noah Reid).

Meanwhile, Moira (Catherine O'Hara) is given the opportunity to revive her acting career when a local theatre group puts on a production of "The Crows Have Eyes III: The Crowening." However, the show's director wants her to take on a role that is quite different from her usual method of acting.

As always, the charm of "Schitt's Creek" comes from the dysfunctional but loving relationships between its core cast of characters. In this episode, we see Johnny (Eugene Levy) navigating the family's new living situation by attempting to take control of the situation, while his wife Moira is caught up in her own desires and whims, often leaving her family members to fend for themselves.

David, meanwhile, is struggling to balance his personal life with the demands of starting a business, leading to some hilarious and awkward moments in the store. Alexis, on the other hand, is determined to help her brother succeed, despite her lack of experience in business.

As always, the writing and performances in "The Crowening" are top-notch. The series has built a huge following over the years and continues to win critical acclaim for its clever humour, emotional moments and brilliant ensemble cast. With season five kicking off in such great form, it's clear that the show still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

In addition to the familiar faces, there are also some new additions to the town of Schitt's Creek. Fans can look forward to a host of new characters who will undoubtedly add to the show's already colourful cast. The season premiere also sets up some exciting storylines for the rest of the season, including the possibility of a new romance for David and some changes to the Roses' dynamic as they continue to adapt to life in this small town.

Overall, "Schitt's Creek" remains one of the most charming and hilarious shows on TV, and "The Crowening" is a strong start to what promises to be another great season. With its quirky characters, clever writing and heartwarming moments, it's no wonder that the show has become such a fan favourite. If you're not already watching, now is the perfect time to catch up and find out what all the fuss is about.
