

On Saturday, May 1st, 2021, SHOWTIME Championship Boxing (SCB) featured a highly anticipated featherweight bout between Eduardo Ramirez and Isaac Avelar in the main event. However, the co-main event stole the show as Mexican fighters Julio Ceja and Carlos Andres Lopez battled it out, with Ceja ultimately coming out victorious.
The opening bout of the night saw highly touted prospect, Joseph "Blessed Hands" Adorno, take on Jamaine Ortiz in a lightweight clash. Adorno came into the fight undefeated but faced a tough challenge in Ortiz, who was also looking to continue his own unbeaten streak. The fight was highly entertaining and showcased the skills of both fighters, but in the end, Adorno edged out a unanimous decision victory.
The main event of the night featured a showdown between two Mexican fighters, WBA Featherweight Champion, Brandon "Heartbreaker" Figueroa, and former world champion, Damien Vazquez. Both fighters were coming in with something to prove, and the result was an action-packed fight that had the crowd on their feet. In the end, Figueroa's volume of punches and powerful shots were too much for Vazquez to handle, and he secured a 10th round stoppage victory to retain his world title.
On July 17th, 2021, the SCB returned with another exciting fight card, headlined by a featherweight clash between Mark Magsayo and Rigoberto Hermosillo. The co-main featured a highly anticipated super middleweight fight between David Benavidez and Jose Uzcategui.
The opening bout of the night saw Brooklyn native, Gary Antonio Russell, take on Mexico's Juan Carlos Payano in a bantamweight bout. Russell, the younger brother of WBC Featherweight Champion, Gary Russell Jr., was looking to make a name for himself and keep his undefeated record intact. Payano, a former world champion, was no easy opponent but Russell showed why he's considered to be one of boxing's rising stars. He outboxed Payano throughout the fight and secured a unanimous decision victory.
In the co-main event, former WBC Super Middleweight Champion, David Benavidez, took on former IBF Super Middleweight Champion, Jose Uzcategui. This fight had all the makings of a classic, with both fighters known for their power and aggressive styles. The two traded shots early and often, but it was Benavidez who landed the more meaningful punches. In the fourth round, Benavidez scored a knockdown that seemed to break Uzcategui's will. He continued to land heavy shots until Uzcategui's corner ultimately threw in the towel in the 8th round, giving Benavidez the TKO victory.
The main event of the night featured a clash between two featherweight contenders, Mark Magsayo and Rigoberto Hermosillo. Magsayo, a rising star from the Philippines, was coming in undefeated and looking to make a statement. Hermosillo, a tough and game opponent, was coming off a 2020 Fight of the Year candidate against Emmanuel Navarrete. The two put on a show for the fans, trading shots throughout the 10 rounds. In the end, it was Magsayo who came out on top, securing a unanimous decision victory.
Overall, SCB: Garcia vs. Rojas was another entertaining night of boxing on SHOWTIME. The bouts showcased the skills of some of boxing's rising stars, as well as some of the sport's established veterans. Fans were treated to non-stop action, with knockdowns, back-and-forth exchanges, and unforgettable moments. Boxing is alive and well on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing.
