In season 6 episode 1 of Say Yes To The Dress, entitled The First Dress Syndrome, viewers are taken on a journey to watch brides-to-be from different parts of the world as they try to find the perfect dress for their special day. Kleinfeld Bridal fills with anxious brides accompanied by their loved ones, hoping to find "the one."
Throughout the episode, Kleinfeld’s expert stylists, including Randy Fenoli and Ronnie Rothstein, work together with each bride to identify what they are looking for in a dress and what suits their body type the best. Each bride has her own unique preferences when it comes to the perfect dress, and the stylists do their best to help each bride find one that she feels confident and beautiful in.
In the first appointment, a bride named Kelli comes in looking for her perfect dress. Kelli had previously tried on a dress that she loved but was not ready to commit to yet, and the stylists warn her not to fall for "the first dress syndrome." They tell her to see other dresses as well, and that there may be something out there that is even better suited for her. Kelli is hesitant at first, but quickly realizes the advice was true when she finds a dress that she adores even more than the first one.
Next, a bride named Pam comes in for her appointment. Pam has an interesting story; she lost over 200 pounds, and she is excited to finally be able to try on dresses that suit her new body type. Her family, including her mother, sisters, and father, come along with her to offer their opinions on each dress. Pam wants a dress that is elegant and timeless but that also shows off her progress and new body. The stylists help her find a dress she loves, but emotional tensions run high with her family during the appointment. The stylists must delicately balance Pam's wishes with her family's sensitivities.
The third appointment is with a bride named Lani, who has a unique request for her perfect dress. Lani is of Middle Eastern heritage and wants a dress that is modest and full of coverage. Ronnie, her stylist, suggests adding detachable sleeves or a cape to add coverage to a dress that Lani likes. Lani loves the idea and ultimately finds a dress that ticks all of her boxes.
The final appointment revolves around a bride named Tess, who previously tried on a dress at Kleinfeld but didn't feel like it was "the one." Her friend, who is also getting married, joins her for the appointment. It quickly becomes apparent that the friend's opinions may be swaying Tess towards a dress she doesn't love. The stylists have to delicately balance the two opinions and keep Tess's focus on what she wants instead of what her friend thinks is best.
Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse of the Kleinfeld Bridal staff's expertise and their hope to help each bride accomplish their dream wedding. The show demonstrates the importance of having a professional and experienced stylist to help a bride find a dress that makes her feel confident and beautiful. Some brides experience highs and lows, but ultimately, every appointment ends on a positive note. The First Dress Syndrome proves to be a real affliction, but with Kleinfeld's stylists' help, each bride ends up happily saying yes to the dress.
