In Saving Hope season 5 episode 9, titled "All Our Yesterdays," the hospital is turned upside down when their electronic medical records system crashes. This forces the doctors to rely on old-fashioned methods to care for their patients and bring back memories of a time when medicine was not so reliant on technology.
Amidst this chaos, Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance) and Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) treat a woman who appears to have dementia. However, they soon discover that her memory loss is actually caused by a much more serious medical condition. As they work to uncover the root of her problem, they are forced to confront their own fears and emotions about growing older and losing their own memories.
Meanwhile, Dr. Zachary Miller (Benjamin Ayres) finds himself in a difficult situation when he has to care for his own mother, who suddenly becomes ill. As he juggles his duties as a doctor and a son, Zach is forced to confront his own grief and guilt about the way he has treated his mother in the past.
Throughout the episode, the doctors and nurses at Hope Zion Hospital are forced to work together in new and unexpected ways, as they deal with the fallout from the technology outage. From administering drugs by hand to relying on their own instincts and experience, they must find a way to provide quality care to their patients without all the tools they are accustomed to.
"All Our Yesterdays" is an emotional and thought-provoking episode of Saving Hope, which explores themes of aging, memory loss, and the importance of human connection in healthcare. As the doctors are forced to take a step back from technology, they are reminded of the human side of medicine, and the power of personal connection in healing.
