The Babysitters is the fourteenth episode of the third season of the iconic American teen comedy Saved by the Bell. The episode explores the lives of the core characters as they step into the responsibility of looking after children, hoping to earn a few extra bucks on the way.
The episode starts with the main cast of the show, including Zack, Slater, Screech, Kelly, Lisa, and Jessie looking for ways to make some money. With a shortage of funds, Zack suggests they all get together and form a babysitting service. All of the characters agree, and the group is open for business.
The first task at hand is for the group to get certified as babysitters. Jessie takes charge and creates a standard protocol for all the sitters to follow, ensuring they are doing everything by the book. After they receive certification, the group sets off on their first babysitting job.
In a hilarious twist of events, Kelly and Zack merge their babysitting jobs to one house, oversleep, and wake up to find out that the kids they were looking after went on an adventure. With the fear of getting into trouble for taking their eyes off the children, the pair spends the entire night trying to find the kids. The search turns out to be fruitless, and the kids make it back home safely, but the duo learns a valuable lesson about the responsibility of babysitting.
Meanwhile, Lisa and Screech have a much easier time with their babysitting gig, or so they think. They take on six kids - one of them a baby who's crying non-stop. The two try to do their best to maintain the situation and calm the infant, but nothing works. The situation takes a turn for the worse when the baby refuses to stop crying, and they cannot find the baby's mother.
As the night progresses, the entire group of babysitters faces several other tough situations, including an unexpected visit from the parents, the loss of a child's favorite toy, and a trip to the emergency room. Through all the challenges, the gang navigates their way through and comes out stronger on the other end. In the end, they earn some extra cash, learn a few things about responsibility, and get closer as friends.
The Babysitters is one of the standout episodes of the third season of Saved by the Bell. The audience gets a glimpse of the challenges and joys of babysitting and sees the main cast in a new light as they navigate through these situations. As with all good episodes of Saved by the Bell, The Babysitters offers a perfect blend of comedy, drama, and life lessons, all wrapped up in a nostalgic blanket of 90s fashion and references.
