In the twelfth episode of Saved by the Bell's first season, titled "Clubs and Cliques," the gang at Bayside High School is faced with issues of popularity and acceptance. After discovering that their school has a plethora of student-run clubs, Zack Morris decides to use his social clout to join as many as possible in an effort to boost his reputation. However, he soon discovers that the social hierarchy of Bayside is more complicated than he thought, as each club seems to have its own set of rules and cliques.
Meanwhile, Lisa Turtle becomes upset when she is rejected from a popular exclusive club called The Princesses. Striving to fit in with the fashionable and wealthy girls who lead the club, Lisa attempts to change her look and act more high-society. However, she soon realizes that true friendships are not based on superficiality, and that being herself is more important than conforming to societal norms.
Elsewhere, Screech finds himself torn between two clubs: the Chess Club, which he loves, and the Bayside wrestling team, which he joins in an effort to impress a girl. Screech must choose between his passion for chess, where he feels accepted and appreciated for his intelligence and strategic thinking, and the team sport where he is struggling to keep up and facing ridicule from the other athletes.
As tensions rise among the various club members, the Bayside gang must navigate through the complex web of cliques, rivalries, and social expectations. Will they learn to embrace individuality and acceptance, or succumb to the pressures of conformity and exclusion? Find out in "Clubs and Cliques," an episode filled with drama, humor, and important life lessons.
