In this episode, entitled "The Last Sontaran, Pt. 2," the second episode of the second season of The Sarah Jane Adventures, Sarah Jane and her friends continue their fight against the Sontarans, a race of warmongering aliens who threaten to destroy the planet. In the first part of the two-part story, the Sontaran Commander Kaagh kidnapped a group of schoolchildren, and Sarah Jane's team is desperate to save them.
The action picks up right where the previous episode left off, with Sarah Jane, Luke, and Clyde trying to infiltrate the Sontaran spaceship where the children are being held captive. However, they quickly discover that they have walked straight into a trap. Kaagh has set up a forcefield around the spaceship, making it impenetrable, and is using the children as bait to lure Sarah Jane into a trap.
Meanwhile, Maria and Mr. Smith are at home, struggling to find a way to deactivate the forcefield. They analyze the Sontaran's technology and come up with a plan, but it requires a massive amount of power that they can't quite manage to get. They ask Luke to create a disturbance at the school, which will cause a power surge that they can harness to shut down the forcefield.
Kaagh, who is not to be underestimated, anticipates their move and sends two of his soldiers to the school to stop them. Fortunately, Clyde and Rani are there to help and manage to fend off the Sontarans with a bit of quick thinking.
When the power surge hits, Mr. Smith is able to deactivate the forcefield, allowing Sarah Jane and her team to storm the spaceship. But the Sontarans are ready for them, and a thrilling battle ensues. Sarah Jane and Kaagh face off in a fierce confrontation, while Luke and Clyde try to rescue the children.
As always with The Sarah Jane Adventures, the action is fast-paced and exciting, with plenty of thrills and spills to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. But what really makes the show special is its heart. The relationship between Sarah Jane and her young companions is always at the forefront of the story, and this episode is no exception. The children's bravery and resourcefulness in the face of danger are truly inspiring, and the bond between them and Sarah Jane is heartwarming.
Although this episode is part of a larger story arc involving the Sontarans, it stands alone as a thrilling and satisfying adventure in its own right. It's perfect for viewers of all ages, with plenty of action and excitement for the kids and enough heart and humor to keep the adults engaged.
Overall, "The Last Sontaran, Pt. 2" is a fantastic episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures, showcasing everything that makes the show so special. It's a must-watch for fans of Doctor Who and anyone who loves a good sci-fi adventure.
