Ep 6. The Chicken and the Pear

Santa Clarita Diet season 3 episode 6 is named The Chicken and the Pear and follows the lives of the Hammond family who are trying their best to live as normal as possible. However, this is easier said than done when Sheila suddenly becomes a zombie and starts craving human flesh. In the previous episode, Joel, Sheila's husband, decides to find a cure for his wife and takes her to Dr. Cora Wolf, who is a zombie expert. With the help of Dr. Wolf, they were able to create a serum that could control Shelia's urges. In episode 6, the serum has run out, and they need to find a new supply before it's too late.

The episode starts with Joel and Sheila trying to find a new way to get a supply of the serum. They remember that Anne, their neighbor, has a small farm in her backyard, and they decide to ask her if they can borrow some of the chickens. Anne agrees, and they take the chickens to a barn where they will be safe. Sheila, however, has a sinister plan for the chickens. She wants to eat them, and Joel is worried that this will bring out her zombie side.

Meanwhile, their daughter Abby is struggling with her art project. She is trying to make a pear out of clay, but she can't seem to get it right. She decides to visit Eric, her friend, for some help. Eric is happy to help her, but Abby is worried that he might know about her mom's secret. Eric assures her that he doesn't know anything and they get to work. During the art session, Eric confesses his feelings for Abby, but she is still uncertain about her feelings for him.

Back at the barn, Sheila starts to become more and more anxious about the chickens. She can hear them clucking, and it's driving her crazy. Joel assures her that they will find another way to satisfy her cravings, but Sheila is adamant that she wants to eat the chickens. She finally gives in to her urges and attacks one of the chickens. Joel is horrified, but Sheila is now addicted to the taste of fresh chicken.

Meanwhile, Anne is starting to suspect that something is not right with the Hammonds. She visits them at the barn and sees the empty chicken coop. Anne demands an explanation, and Sheila comes clean about being a zombie. Anne is shocked but decides to help them anyway. She tells them about a farmer who has a surplus of chicken, and they decide to go there to get some more food for Sheila.

At the farmer's, they encounter a group of bikers who are trying to steal the chickens. Joel and Sheila team up and take down the bikers, but not before Sheila gets a taste of one of them. This frightens Joel, and he decides to take Sheila back to Dr. Wolf for help. Dr. Wolf is hesitant to help them again, but Joel pleads with her, and she eventually agrees.

The episode ends with Abby finally finishing her clay pear, and Eric kissing her. Joel and Sheila are on their way back from Dr. Wolf's with a new supply of the serum, but Sheila is not feeling well. The episode leaves viewers with a cliffhanger, wondering what will happen to Sheila next.
