Sands of Destruction is a 2008 anime series produced by FUNimation, based on a Japanese role-playing game of the same name. The show follows a young girl named Morte and her quest to destroy the world which is built on the back of giant beasts known as "Ferals". Morte is a member of a group called World Annihilation Front, which is dedicated to destroying the world to free it from the oppression of the Ferals. She is joined in her quest by a young man named Kyrie, who possesses the ability to communicate with the Ferals. Along the way, they are also joined by other members of the World Annihilation Front, including fellow Feral-hater Toppi, and the mysterious Naja.

One of the main draws of Sands of Destruction is its unique and interesting world-building. The idea of a world built on the backs of giant beasts is both intriguing and visually stunning, and the show makes excellent use of this concept throughout its run. The Ferals themselves are also well-designed and diverse, with each one having its own unique abilities and personality.

The characters in Sands of Destruction are also well-written and engaging. Morte is a particularly interesting protagonist, as she is a fairly rare example of an anime character who is both strong-willed and flawed. She is fiercely dedicated to her cause, but her single-mindedness and tendency to act on impulse can often get her into trouble. Kyrie, by contrast, is more soft-spoken and analytical, but his ability to communicate with the Ferals and his calm demeanor make him an invaluable member of the group.

The supporting cast is also well-developed, with each character having their own backstory and motivations. Toppi, for example, has a deep-seated hatred for the Ferals due to a traumatic incident in his past, while Naja is a mystery throughout much of the show, with his true loyalties and goals remaining unclear until late in the series.

The show's animation is also top-notch, with beautiful backgrounds and well-executed fight scenes. The action in Sands of Destruction is particularly impressive, as the characters often have to work together to take down the powerful Ferals. The show also does a good job of balancing its serious moments with more lighthearted ones, creating a sense of tension and release that keeps the viewer engaged.

Overall, Sands of Destruction is an excellent anime series that is well worth watching. Its unique world-building, engaging characters, and impressive animation make it a standout in the genre. If you're a fan of action-oriented anime with well-written characters and an interesting premise, this show is definitely worth checking out.
