Set in a world where monsters, creatures, and abnormal beings exist, Sanctuary revolves around Dr. Helen Magnus and her team in their quest to understand, protect, and study these beings. The empath is brought back to the Sanctuary for further analysis, but its behavior raises concerns. The creature seems to be afraid and agitated, making it difficult for the team to study it. The team discovers that the empath is sensing a great deal of pain, coming from a nearby location.

Magnus, Zimmerman, and the team go to investigate and find a house filled with some of the most unusual and dangerous creatures. Among them is a vampire, a werewolf, and a creature that can jump through time. The creatures are all being held against their will by a woman who claims to be protecting them from the outside world.

Magnus and the team realize that the woman has been using the empath to sense the pain and discomfort of the creatures, and then using that power to keep them under her control. The team convinces the woman to release the creatures, and they all return to the Sanctuary for further study and observation.

Meanwhile, a subplot involving the new member of the Sanctuary team, Ashley, develops in the episode. Ashley proves her worth by tracking down the missing security guard from the warehouse where the empath was captured. Ashley's instincts lead her to a fortress where the missing guard is being held captive.

Overall, Episode 2 of Sanctuary is a thrilling installment that further establishes the world of the show and the unique creatures that inhabit it. We get to see more of Magnus and her team working to protect and study the abnormals, while also exploring the emotional depth and complexity of the creatures themselves.
