Set in a feline-dominated, feudal-era city of Little Tokyo, this animated show follows the adventures of three samurai feline heroes: Speedy Cerviche, Guido Anchovy, and Polly Esther, who are also the titular Samurai Pizza Cats. In Season 1 Episode 20, "Drummin' Up Trouble With A Big Bad Beat," the Samurai Pizza Cats must face a new threat to Little Tokyo's peace and order.
The episode starts with an event called the "Little Tokyo Drum-Off," an annual drumming contest where various drummers from different areas of the city compete with their respective teams. This year, the event is sponsored by the wealthy and influential businessman Big Cheese, who uses the event as a cover to realize his evil plan of world domination.
As the event unfolds, the Samurai Pizza Cats discover that Big Cheese has hypnotized the contestants with his powerful drumming. Their once peaceful drumming turns into a chaotic and destructive beat, and they become his puppets. It is then revealed that Big Cheese has a massive, weaponized drum machine that he controls via his new armored costume. He plans to activate the machine and use it to terrorize the city and make everyone his slaves.
The Samurai Pizza Cats resolve to stop Big Cheese's plan, and they quickly engage in battle. But as they fight with Big Cheese and his cat army, they realize that their current weapons and tactics are ineffective against the giant drum machine. They desperately need to find a way to neutralize it while avoiding further harm to the city and the people.
Meanwhile, one of the drumming contestants, named Stan, tries to snap out of his trance and resist Big Cheese's hypnotic control. Realizing that he's in danger and that his drumming skills can help turn the tide of the battle, Stan makes a bold move. He sneaks out of the contest's compound and bravely confronts Big Cheese in his armored suit. With his drum sticks as his only weapon, he engages in a solo drumming battle against Big Cheese.
The Samurai Pizza Cats notice Stan's bravery and decide to support him. They rush to their base and create a new weapon, a giant cymbal that acts as a shield and can reflect Big Cheese's hypno-beat. Guido, the team's mechanic and inventor, mounts the cymbal on the Mach Pizza, their flying delivery vehicle, and rushes to the scene.
As the battle rages on, Stan manages to hold his own against Big Cheese. His drumming prowess surprises Big Cheese, but the armored suit still gives him the upper hand. The Samurai Pizza Cats arrive with their new weapon, and they manage to reflect Big Cheese's hypno-beat back at him. The giant drum machine goes out of control and crashes, but Big Cheese still refuses to yield. He tries to activate his backup plan, but the Samurai Pizza Cats manage to overpower him and save the city.
The episode ends with the Samurai Pizza Cats celebrating their victory and Stan receiving the "Brave Drummer Badge" from the Little Tokyo Drum-Off committee. The team also recognizes Stan's bravery and how his drumming skills helped save the day. They vow to protect Little Tokyo from any future threat and keep the peace in their city.
