Saint Seiya - Sanctuary is a Japanese anime television series based on the popular manga of the same name. 73. Friends, Gather at Athena's.

April 16, 1988

Eventually, Athena Saori is revived. The light from the Athena's Sheild reaches to her. The Gold Saint of Libra, the mentor of Dragon Shiryu tells the truth to the other Gold Saints what happened 13 years ago, and that Saori is the reincarnetion of Athena. Saori moves to the Athena's Shrine from the foot of the Sanctuary through the 12 rooms of the Gold Saints, saving other Bronze Saints, Shiryu, Hyoga and Shun by the miracle power of Cosmo. In Athena's Shrine, Seiya is about to death, beaten by Saga of Gemini, Seiya helped by Ikki. And other friends, Shiryu, Hyoga and Shun. Suddenly, the Gold Cloth of Gemini is removed automatically against Saga's intention. Finallly, Saga killed himself by sticking the Athena's Rod. His personality of good regrets his sin. Thus, the battle comes to one end. The evil is disappeared from the Sanctuary.

72. Don't waste your friends death but go, Seiya

April 9, 1988

Gemini gets certain of his victory, beating Seiya and his 5 senses. At the same time, Mu of Aries helps Shaka of Virgo and Phoenix Ikki from another dimension. Shaka repaired Ikki's Phoenix Cloth. On the other hand, losing 5senses, Seiya still continues to fight against the Gold Saint of Gemini, Saga. Suddenly, the Justice Face on the mask of Gold Cloth of Gemini sheds tears. Ikki comes into the Pope's room and lets Seiya go to the Athena's Shrine. Defeating Ikki, Saga of Gemini follows Seiya. In the Athena's Shrine, Seiya finds the Sheild of the Athena Statue, and hold it up over his head, The battle in Sanctuary is about to end after making a lot of sacrifices. Seiya tries his last effort to save Athena, but the Gold Saint of Gemini, the reincarnation of evil, attacks him. Finally the last fire on the tower has gone and Athena is about to die......

71. Fire Clock Goes Out, Who Is Pope?

March 26, 1988

The battle in Sanctuary is about to end after making a lot of sacrifices. In spite of losing his precious friend Shun, Seiya has managed to go through the twelve houses and broken into the Pope's room being helped by Marin. There he finds Pope regretting his sinful conducts with tears. Pope tells Seiya to head for Athena Shrine in order to save Athena but soon after that turns into the reincarnation of the evil. Saga is double-personality of Good and Evil. It is revealed that Pope really is Gemini Saga and that he's gained the position after murdering the former Pope.

70. Sleep in Peace, Shun

March 19, 1988

Aphrodite attacks Shun with his 'piranhian Rose' and destroys Shun's chain attack with ease. Aphrodite punishes Shun with his gold saints's powers, destroying his bronze armour and almost fatally wounding him. Realising he must act quickly, Shun summons all of his remaining energy and attacks Aphrodite with his 'Nebular Stream' technique. This allows Shun to defeat Aprodite, but not before suffering the spell of Aphrodite's 'White Rose' attack. The white rose attacks Shun's heart and sucks out all of the blood out of his body. Shun is the latest of the bronze saints to fall, but what about Seiya? Is he dead, or just sleeping? Arles believes that he has won; he believes the only threat to his rule was the bronze saints... but he was wrong! Marin and Shina are planning to rescue Seiya on their own, but will they be able to save him in time to save Athena as well?

69. Demon Rose! Sweet Smell of Death

March 12, 1988

Aprodite informs Shun that Seiya will die at the stem of his poisonous 'Demon Roses' which are planted to prevent any invadoers from hurting the pope. Once Seiya breathes in any of the pollen or touches any of the thorns, he will lose all of his senses and eventually die. During their battle, Aphrodite reveals to Shun that it was he who killed Shun's mentor on Andromeda island. So, Shun has a double agenda for destroying Aphrodite - to avenge his mentor's death and to get to Seiya in time to save him. After initially suffering at the attacks of Aprodite's gold saint powers. Shun realises his seventh-sense power and begins to answer back with strong attack of his own. Shun uses his powerful 'Thunder wave' attack and almost has Aprodite defeated, when all of a sudden, a large black rose appears out of nowhere and brings Shun's attack to halt.

68. A Warrior of Beauty - Aphrodite

February 27, 1988

After Camus's defeat, and with Seiya and Shun closing in, Arles is getting a little jumpy. And with only one-hour left to save Athena, Seiya and Shun must move fast. To save time, they agree to let Shun fight Aphrodite in the house of Pisces, while Seiya runs ahead to face Arles. Shun successfully holds Aphrodite at bay while Seiya runs through the house of Pisces, but once he reaches the path to Arles's house, Seiya discovers it to be covered with Aphrodite's magical roses. Seiya must step on the roses to advance to Arles's house, but as he does, he falls unconscious succumbing to their mysterious powers. Shun cannot help his friend, instead he must listen to the Aphrodite's sinister laughter as they prepare for battle.

67. Good-bye, My Master and My Friend

February 20, 1988

Although upset, the remaining bronze saints realize they don't have the time to grieve for their brave friend Shiryu, and they hurry off to the next house, the house of Aquarius. Inside, they encounter the gold saint of Aquarius, Camus. To prove his great mentor worng (for freezing him in the large block of ice, bexause he felt Cygnus could never achieve his seventh sense) Cygnus Hyoga wants to fight Camus alone. So, he tells Shun and Seiya to go on ahead to defeat Arles without him. Camus's powers are great; he is far superior to Cygnus and easily defeats him. But respecting his prodigy, Camus again chooses to freeze Cygnus inside a large block of ice rather than killing him ruthlessly. This time, however, to Camus's surprise Cygnus is able to summon his seventh sense power and break out of the ice coffin. A greater battle ensues and both saints destroyed one another, altering the number of fallen bronze saints to three.

66. Shiryu Turns into a Star

February 13, 1988

Shiryu manages to break Shura's arm, but is badly wounded in the process. Just like at the beginning of our story, when Shiryu battled Seiya in the Galactian Wars Tournament, as Shiryu attacked Shura with his 'Rising Dragon' Technique he left his heart unprotected for a split second, and this is all Shura needed to deliver his damaging blow. Realising that Shura must be defeated in order to save Athena, Shiryu uses his most powerful technique the 'Ultimate Dragon'. Although this technique will kill any one it is used against, it will also ensure Shiryu's own death. So, Shiryu chooses to sacrifice himself for the cause of saving Athena, and he defeats Shura of Capricorn. But is Shiryu really dead?

65. Sacred Sword Roars - Fight between Shura and Dragon

February 6, 1988

With only a 3-hour window remaining to save Athena, the saints are feeling the pressure. They enter the tenth house, the house of Capricorn, and find it vacant. They pass through to the other side safely, but all of a sudden, the ground cracks creating a large gap in the earth. Seiya, Hyoga and Shun end up on the side away from the house (close to the eleventh house), but Shiryu is stuck on the side near the exit of the house of Capricorn. Then, Shura the gold saint of Capricorn emerges from the house and a fight with Shiryu ensues. Unable to help their friend by the distance between them, the saints realise they must move on to the eleventh house, as their need to save Athena is great. We discover that Shura is the most loyal of all the gold saints to Athena, and he is the one who killed Aioros those many years ago, because he thought Aioros was the one who tried to kill Athena when she was a baby, Shura punishes Shiryu and has him near deaths door, when suddenly, Shiryu is spirityally guided by his mentor in China. With his mentor's help, Shiryu realises Shura's weak link and he exposes it to his advantage.

64. Young Men! To You I Entrust Athena

January 30, 1988

The arrow barely misses Seiya's heart and lands in the wall behind him. After a confused Seiya ponders the significance of it all, he realises that where arrow has penetrated the wall leads to a secret passageway. Shun comes to, and Cygnus arrives, reuniting the four bronze saints together for the first time in a while. They all decide to enter the passageway to see where it leads. Once inside, the entrance disappears behind them and the ceiling begins to press down upon them like a vice. Shiryu yels for the others to run ahead to the tunnel while he tries to hold up the ceiling ; they reluctantly agree, although worry about their friend's welfare. Up ahead, the three saints must evade a barrage of rocks flying at them, and then deal with a torrent that prevents them from moving onto the next passageway. Cygnus volunteers to take care of it, to allow Seiya and Shun advance. Next, the two saints come to a wide opening in the rock and they must use Shun's chain to swing across, but the chain gives out and the two falls to the rocks below. But, then, the power of the sagittarius armour energises the four saints giving them extreme powers and the strength to emerge unscathed from their predicaments and unite again in the house of Sagittarius's main chamber. In the cahmber, others to run ahead to the tunnel while he tries to hold up the ceiling ; they reluctantly agree, although worry about their friend's welfare. Up ahead, the three saints must evade a barrage of rocks flying at them, and then deal with a torrent that prevents them from moving onto the next passageway. 63. Hibike! Sanctuary's Gold Cloth

January 23, 1988

With only four remaining to save Athena, Tatsumi and the other bronze saints protecting her are beginning to worry about losing her. Tatsumi sent Saint Geki the bear to bring Athena's sceptre to her side, and as it is placed in her hand, something magical happens. The gold saints' armour of Sagittarius arrives in the sanctuary, reuniting all of the gold armour for the first time in thirteen years. All of the remaining gold saints come together as their armour begins to ring out like old friends greeting one another. Pope Arles is pleased that he has all of the gold saints' armour in the Sanctuary, but he is worried that something might still go wrong, especially since the bronze saints have made it through the ninth house and are only two away from him. As qickly as the Sagittarius armour appeared, it just as quickly flew through the sky int the house of Sagittarius. Inside, Seiya and Shiryu are waiting.. Once they near the gold armour, it begins to move on its own. It points its Sagittarius arrow at Seiya and without warning fires at him.

62. Go on, Hyoga! Noble Warrior

January 16, 1988

Milo again breaked out of Cygnus's restrains, and Cygnus finds that Milo's Scarlet needle attack is beginning to take effort.Cygnus becomes paralysed and begins to lose his senses one by one. Cygnus tries to mount an attack, but with limited strength, it is useless. Milo then asks Cygnus why he didn't remain asleep in the block of ice, since Camus put him there for a reason - he is not able to let go of the memory of his mother thus cannot find his seventh-sense needed to defeat the gold saints. Milo takes pity on Cygnus and, out of respect for the gold saints Camus, agrees to let Cygnus live if he leaves the sancturary immediately. Cygnus refuges, claiming that he would rather die than disappoint his friend and Athena. Milo respects his with his wish and tries to destroy him, but with his back up against the wall and his senses leaving his body, Cygnus draws from the powerful energies of his friends and the goddess Athena to realise his seventh sense after all. He manages to deliver a powerful ' Aurora Thunder Attack' and freezes Milo's gold armour rendering it useless. Milo recognaises that Cygnus has achieved his seventh sense and believes that maybe Saori is the real Athena after all. He tries to heal Cygnus's wounds and wishes him well in the next house, but there is now only four hours left to save Saori.

61. Surrender or Death!

January 9, 1988

Cygnus enters the house of Scorpio carrying an exhausted Shun in his arms. Revitalised from his long rest, Cygnus managed to temporarily restrain Milo with his 'Freezing Ring' attack, allowing Seiya and Shiryu to move on the next house. Milo breakes free of the freezing ring with ease and the two square off. Cyguns is strong and puts up a good fight, but Milo's 'Scarlet Needle' attack is unstoppable. Cygnus has been mortally wounded, but Miloguves him a choice ; either surrender, or face the 15 leveles of anbelievable pain the attack contains. Cygnus refuses to surrender, thus endures much pain. After each level sustained, Cygnus is biven an option to surrender ; he continues torefuse. Milo informs him that no one has ever passed level 6. In obvious pain, Cygnus has sustained up to level 15, but then a miracle happens. Cygnus seems to shake off the damage by summoning his inner enrgy and surprises Milo with his 'Diamond Dust' attack, freezing Milo in his place. Meanwhile, down the hill, Tatsumi arrives to be at Saori's (Athena's) side as she lay with an arrow piercing her heart, but Arles soldiers have detdetected his presence and attack him. Tatsumi manages to fend off a few with his impressive kendo abilities, but there are too many of them and he is captured. The soldiers decide to kill Saori for their own pleasure, believing this will please the pope, but they are stopped in their tracks by the surprise arrival of Jab the Unicorn, Ban the Lionette, Ichi the Sea Snake, Geki the Bear and Nachi the Wolf. These other Bronze saints have come to fight along side Seiya and his friends to save Saori (Athena).

60. Hyoga's Ressurection! At the Risk of my Life

December 26, 1987

As Shun tries to revive Cygnus, by burning up his energy to keep him warm, he has a flashback of his days on Andromeda Island when he fought to become a saint. Seiya and Shiryu have made it to the house of Scorpio, guarded by the gold saint Milo, but once they enter, they sense that Shun's energy is draining unusually fast. They realise that true to his Andromeda star, Shun is going to sacrifice his own life in order to save Cygnus's life. As they attempt to go back and stop Shun, Milo steps out of the darkness and prevents them from leaving the house of Scorpio. After a hearty exchange of blows between the saints, Milo decides to use his powerful "Scarlet Needle" sting attack and flattens Seiya and Shiryu, but just as Milo moves in for the fatal blow, Cygnus strolls in ready for action. 59. Revive, Swan! Life, Death and Love

December 19, 1987

Shina discovers that Cassios sacrificed himself to save Seiya and she blames herself for his death. She decides to take out her anger by attacking ArIes, but Aioria stops her from making this grave mistake. The bronze saints enter the house of Libra where they discover Cygnus buried in a large block of ice. They surmise that the only one capable of doing such a thing is the gold saint Aquarius. As they inspect Cygnus's unique coffin a little closer, they sense his energy and are happy to learn that he is still alive. But they are unable to free him from his predicament; Aquarius's ice-block is unbreakable even by the gold saints. But luckily, they find a way. Shiryu's mentor, the gold saint of Libra, sends his gold armour to them. The gold armour of Libra is a special one in that it can change into 12 different weapons. The trick, however, is knowing which one to choose for the desired result you want. After testing each set of weapons, Shiryu chooses the sword; it is the correct choice. He wields it well and frees his cold friend. Shun volunteers to tend to his teeth-chattering friend while Shiryu and Seiya run on ahead to the next house to save Saori.

58. Heroical! Ikki Dissolved Because of Friendship

December 12, 1987

In sadistic fashion, Shaka tortures Phoenix with his incredible gold saint powers, but even after ridding Phoenix of his senses and leaving him physically destroyed, Shaka cannot seem to finish off the strong-willed bronze saint. Shun comes-to and tries to help his ailing brother, but through communicative thoughts, Phoenix tells him to back off; 'this is his fight.' Shaka continues his attack on a defenceless Phoenix, but now he seems unable to do any damage to him, like he's protected by an unknown force field. Shaka has never seen anything like this before. Who is protecting Phoenix? And why? It turns out that Phoenix's is protecting himself with his awesome brainpower. Angered and frustrated, Shaka tries to destroy Phoenix's brain as well, but he is too late. Phoenix has been down so low that he cannot go any deeper. He has searched his soul and found his inner seventh-sense power. Due to his inner goodness and pure heart, Phoenix becomes more powerful than Shaka could ever dream of becoming and he begins to overpower Shaka. But Phoenix knows that the only way he can truly destroy Shaka is by sacrificing his own life to take Shaka's. So he does just that. Phoenix grabs hold of a stunned Shaka and burns up all of his powerful energy in an intense heat. By building up a massive burst of energy Phoenix explodes and takes Shaka with him, into a million bits. Shun and the others shed a tear for their fallen friend, but they know he died for them and they must now rush off to save Saari, as they only have six hours left.

57. Fear of the Void! Shaka Opening His Eyes

December 5, 1987

True to his name, Phoenix rises from the ashes of death and attacks Shaka with his powerful "Phoenix Illusion." But Shaka is too strong to be affected by such powers. Shaka is, however, impressed by Phoenix's resiliency and he offers to let him live if he leaves immediately. Phoenix refuses to leave without his friends, before they have defeated ArIes and saved Saori (Athena). So, Shaka begins attacking him again. Shaka blasts Phoenix's bronze saint's armour from his body and renders him utterly defenceless. Phoenix laughs at Shaka and tells him that no matter how powerful he is, his Phoenix armour can never be destroyed; it will forever rebuild itself from ruin. Shaka is quick to point out that if Phoenix dies the powers of his armour aren't of importance. Then, Shaka opens his eyes and unleashes a demonstrative attack, which paralyses Phoenix, removes his ability to speak and strips him of his senses. As we watch a helpless Phoenix writhe around in pain,we . ..

56. Shaka! The Man Closest to the Gods

November 28, 1987

Seiya, Shun and Shiryu cautiously enter the house of Virgo, and confront a closed-eyed Shaka. In tum, they each attack Shaka, but it is of no use. Shaka's power is the greatest they have yet to face - the force that they use to attack him with is simply returned upon them tenfold. Shaka mocks them for their weakness and is angered because he realizes that the only way they could have made it this far is by the betrayal of the gold saints in the houses beneath him. Just as Shaka prepares to kill the bronze saints, in walks Phoenix to save the day...or does he? Shaka gives Phoenix a choice - either he Gan die, or get down on his knees and accept Shaka as his god, Budda. Phoenix mocks the crazy gold saint for believing that he is the reincarnation of Budda, and chooses to die rather than kneel in front of such an evil saint. True to his word, Shaka attacks Phoenix with his Herculean powers. Shaka shows Phoenix the six worlds of the dead and asks him to choose the one in which he would like to live after he is dead. 55. Ties of Friendship! Athena's Call

November 21, 1987

Phoenix is unable to slowdown Shiba and Agora'a attack. They paralyse Phoenix with their unusual powers, rendering Phoenix's bronze strength useless against them. But once the scared little girl runs to phoenix for protection, and Phoenix receives some much needed spiritual strength from Saori (Athena) he has the power to do what he knows he must. After a lengthy battle, Phoenix manages to defeat Shaka's disciples and saves the little girl from hahn. Back at the sanctuary, the remaining bronze saints reach the house of Virgo and prepare to enter; ever conscious of Aioria's warning about not letting Shaka open his eyes.

54. Ikki! The Phoenix's Blazing Wings

November 14, 1987

Before Seiya, Shun and Shiryu move onto the next house, the house of Virgo, Aioria warns them about Shaka, the saint of Virgo. He tells them that Shaka is the saint who is closest to god, and to beware ifhe opens his eyes, because ifhe does, everything around him will die. We then find Ikki (Phoenix), who has been resting on a nearby volcanic island to heal the wounds he suffered during his last battle. He is attacked by some of ArIes's men who were sent to find him. Phoenix easily destroys them, but is surprised by the arrival ofShiba-Shiba ofPabo, the Peacock disciple of Shaka, and Agora-of Lotus, also a disciple of Shaka. They threaten Phoenix and claim they have been sent by Shaka, their god, to destroy him. Phoenix appears to have met his match and his powers seem useless against these new foes, but when Peacock attacks an innocent girl who gets in his way, Phoenix's powers soar to new heights and he launches a powerful attack against this evil duo. 53. What a Man! Cassios Dies For Love

November 7, 1987

Shiryu and Shun arrive to help Seiya, but Cassios stands in their way. Pretending to be their enemy, Cassios attacks Shun and Shiryu and knocks them down. Cassios then proceeds to the house of Leo to face Aioria himself. Cassios knows that in order for ArIes's evil spell over Aioria to be broken, Aioria must kill one enemy,and due to his love and devotion for his mentor Shina, Cassios wants that enemy to be him. Aioria toys with Seiya andpunishes him with cruelty, bringing him near to death, but Cassios shows up and saves the day. After sacrificing himself to save Seiya and spare Shina the pain if Seiya were to die, Cassios reveals that he has always loved Shina deeply. Once Cassios is dead, Aioria snaps out of his spell, and all is well again in the land of Saint Seiya. But now they must move on to the next house with only 7 hours left to save Saori. Can they do it?

52. Ares! Legend of the Demon Fist

October 31, 1987

Seiya's attacks are futile against Aioria 's gold armour. Aioria scoffs at Seiya's bronze saints' abilities and then breaks Seiya's leg with his powerful "Lightning Voltage" attack. Seiya cannot understand why all of a sudden Aioria is so full of evil and hatred, especially after swearing to uphold justice and protect Athena. Meanwhile, just down the hill, Shina is recovering from her wounds sustained in Japan, and Cassis tends to her. In her sleep, Shina reveals her feelings for Seiya and expresses her worry for his welfare; Cassios overhears this. When Shina awakes, Cassios informs her that Seiya and the other bronze saints have come to Greece and have made it as far as the house of Leo on their quest to defeat ArIes. Cassios reveals that while Aioria was busy fighting the gold saint Shaka in the pope's chamber (following Aioria's attack on ArIes), ArIes attacked Aioria with his legendary "Imperial Satan" spell, a mind control device that allows ArIes to control those under this spell. So, Aioria is now an evil gold saint fighting for ArIes. Upon hearing this, Shina tries to rush to Seiya's side, but she is too weak and collapses.

51. Why! The Golden Lion Bared His Fangs

October 24, 1987

Seiya enters the house of Leo and finds the gold saint Aioria guarding it. The last time Seiya saw him, Aioria agreed to uphold justice and challenge the pope's rule along with the bronze saints, but since his battle with pope ArIes, and the gold saint Shaka, Aioria's temperament and disposition have mysteriously changed. Now, Aioria only seems concerned with preventing anyone from passing through the house of Leo onto the next house, especially Seiya. So, when Seiya tries to pass, Aioria punishes him with several damaging blows, bringing him near death. Meanwhile, Marin has returned to Greece and plans to break into the sanctuary to help the bronze saints defeat the pope, but on route, she encounters the evil warrior Jaggy who has his own plans for her fate. When Jaggy informs Marin that Aioria has pledged to kill Seiya, she decides to pass he Seiya, making him more powerful, and leaving herself almost defenceless against the brutal Jaggy. Invigorated from Marin 's gift, Seiya is now able to defend against Aioria's awesome attack and capable of forming a powerful attack of his own. But can Seiya. Defeat the mighty Aioria? 50. Rise, Dragon! Shiryu's Raging Cosmo

October 17, 1987

Shiryu and Death Mask have the ultimate showdown between good and evil. Although believing the actions he takes are for justice, Death Mask doesn't realise the truth of his evil ways. Through damaging blows struck for purity and goodness, Shiryu manages to strip the gold armour from Death mask's body leaving him helpless and afraid. Unwilling to fight an unarmed saint, Shiryu removes his own protective armour to even the stakes and prepares for a battle to the death. During the battle, Shiryu discovers his own seventh-sense and defeats Death Mask; delivering him to the mouth of death. When he returns from the gates of death, Shiryu is met by Shun and discovers he has regained his sight. Together Shiryu and Shun run on to the next house to face the next gold saint who stands in their way.

Shiryu again finds his soul at the gates of death, and sees his life "flashing before his eyes." He thinks back on the days when he was training to be a saint, and on the relationship he developed with his girlfriend Shunrei. After a seven minute introductory "bringing you up to date" type recap of the story, we rejoin Seiya and Shiryu heading to the house of Cancer. As they enter this house, they discover gruesome faces protruding from the floor and walls. Emerging from the darkness, mocking their horror, is Death Mask, the gold saint of Cancer. He tells them that the faces belong to all of his victims over the years, and he keeps them as trophies. Shiryu convinces Seiya to let him handle Death Mask and to run on ahead to the house of Leo to save time; Seiya agrees. Shiryu is no match for Death Mask's awesome strength, and he quickly finds his soul at the gates of death. But determined to save Saori and spurred on by the voice of his ageing mentor he returns to finish the battle. But after failing to even remotely injure Death Mask with his most powerful "Rising Dragon" technique, Shiryu realises he is no match for the gold saint. Taking advantage of Shiryu's sudden loss of confidence, Death Mask attacks Shiryu with a final deadly blow ... or is it?

Besides saving himself, Shun's attack on ArIes's also freed Cygnus from his flight through another dimension. When he arrived back to his own dimension, Cygnus found himself in the house of Libra. There, he met Crystal's (Cygnus's mentor) mentor the gold saint of Aquarius. Aquarius informs Cygnus that he has been ordered not to let Cygnus through this house, and he attacks Cygnus as he tries to pass. Unwilling to fight Aquarius, his acting mentor, Cygnus tries instead to convince him of ArIes's evil ways, hoping this will persuade him into letting him pass. It doesn't work. Instead, Aquarius has his own agenda - to help Cygnus discover his seventh-sense. But Cygnus is unwilling to let go of the memory of his mother and is subsequently held back and unable to achieve his seventh-sense power. So, wanting Cygnus to die painlessly, instead of at the hands of an evil gold saint, Aquarius attacks Cygnus with a powerful blow and enshrines him in a large block of ice. Is Cygnus dead? Just when you'd think Shun is sure to be destroyed, someone interferes with ArIesconcentration, infiltrating his forbidding mind control powers, and he loses control of his death-grip on Shim, saving him for the time being. That someone is Ikki, the bronze saint Phoenix, who is recovering from wounds sustained during his last battle far away from Greece. Since no one has ever been able to break into his mind before, ArIes is surprised that Ikki was capable of such a feat. Cygnus and Shun attempt to fight the eerie gold saint Gemini, but every attack they can muster is repeatedly shot back in their faces. It appears that Gemini is actually an illusion being controlled from far away, so they are actually attacking nothing. Meanwhile, Seiya and Shiryu are figuring this out for themselves in another area of the house, but Shiryuusing his sixth sense, since he's still blind-leads Seiya through the illusions and out of the Gemini house towards the Cancer house. Angered by his lack of foresight (Shiryu not being able to see, thus the illusion not affecting him), ArIes, who was in fact creating the illusions from afar, uses all of his mighty powers to attack Shun and Cygnus. ArIes sends Cygnus spinning into another dimension and leaves Shun hanging on for dear life!

44. Gemini Temple! Labyrinth of Light and Darkness

Alderbaran is shaken but not stirred. He is wise enough to know when he has met his match and wishes to fight with Seiya no more. He allows the bronze saint to proceed to the third house; the house of Gemini, but when the other bronze saints try to go with him, Alderbaran stops them. His logic is that only Seiya has beaten him, so only Seiya should be allowed to advance. So, the others are forced to fight the stubborn Alderbaran themselves, and together they manage to impress the gold saint and he allows them to run on ahead to join their friend. Moo and Alderbaran have a heart to heart about the bronze saints, and Alderbaran reveals his fondness for them and wishes them well on their quest. When the bronze four try to enter the house of Gemini, they are unable to find a way in. They decide to split up to save time. Cygnus and Shun are successful and find a way in. Once inside, the gold saint Gemini corners them and informs them that they are now inside his deadly labyrinth and no one has ever escaped with their lives.

As the bronze saints wait for Shun (Andromeda) before departing for Greece, they are unaware that he is battling for his life against vengeful old friends from his homeland. Believing that it is his destiny is to die at the hands of these friends, Shun submits and accepts his fate. Slipping in and out of consciousness, Shun has a vision of his brother Ikki (Phoenix). In the vision, Ikki convinces Shun that he controls his own destiny based on the choices he makes in life, and he has a choice of whether or not to accept his own death. Shun snaps out of unconsciousness and defeats his attackers, then joins his friends to leave for Greece. On the plane, Saori informs the bronze saints that there are in facttwelve gold saints, one for each sign of the Zodiac, and that ArIes is actually a gold saint with two sides, one good and one bad. He is not in fact the evil brother of the previous and assumed deceased-pope he is one and the same. Aioria returns to Greece after battling Seiya, and learning the truth of ArIes's evil ways, and he confronts ArIes to accuse him of wrongdoing; a battle ensues. In the meantime, Shun is confronted by Juneh, from the Island of Andromeda, pleading him not to go. Juneh is very determined to stop him even if that means wounding him.

39. Shiryu Challenges Deathmask

They try to kill Seiya because their comrades were killed by Seiya. Seiya gets cornered but the Gold Cloth appears to help him.

36. Twelve Sets of Gold Cloth

While Saori Kido and the others are searching for the Gold Cloth Mask, Pope Arles is also desparately seeking the Gold Cloth. Both sides suspect that the other has stolen the Cloth. Arles summons Gold Saint Milo in order to send him after the Bronze Saints. He discloses to Milo that there are actually 12 Gold Cloths. 13 years before, Gold Saint Aiolos betrayed the Sanctuary and was put to death. His Gold Cloth was placed in the care of Saori's grandfather. Two of the Gold Saints had helped Aiolos and then gone off to distant parts. Just as Milo is about to go off, Aiolia, younger brother of Aiolos begs the Pope toe send him, instead...

35. Seiya's Journey of Hope

Seiya manage to arrive safely in Jamiel, but finds Mu nowhere around. Even Kiki doesn't know where he is. Kiki suddenly remembers Mu talking about the water of Life which flows from a spring at the summit of Jandara, a mountain nearby. Only the bravest of the brave are able to reach the summit. After countless hardships, Seiya manages to reach the spring.. When he returns with the Water, however, he finds Kiki being assaulted by the Silver Cloth Saint, Tarantula, Arakune. Without his Pegasus Cloth, Seiya is defenseless, but Steel Cloth Saint, Sky-Cloth, Sho arrives in the nick of time.

Although Shiryu has lost his sight, he accepts the challenge of Ohko, who had also been a disciple of the Rooshi when they were both children, but who had been expelled. As he prepares to fight Ohko, Rooshi tells him that he will probably lose as long as he does not know the true purpose of his fighting.. Shiryu doesn't understand this, but as he is warding off blows given by Ohko, Shiryu suddenly realizes the true purpose is to protect this world in which his friends live. With this realization, his cosmo-energy suddenly grows and he is able to defeat Ohko.

33. Sightless Dragon's Tears

Shiryu is recovering under the wing of the Rooshi in the Goroho, China. Nursed by Shunrei, Shiryu's scares heal but there is no sign of his sight returning. One day, an old enemy, Ohoko, returns to challenge Shiryu. As Children, they had both studied under Rooshi, but Ohko had been expelled. When Ohko realizes that Shiryu cann't see, he leaves despite Shiryu's plea that he continue the battle and not show any mercy. Feeling beaten and frustrated, Shiryu goes off find some way in which he can return to his old self. Meanwhile. Seiya goes off to Jamiel in order to find a sure for Shiryu's eye.

32. Death Queen Island explodes

Although Seiya is still recovering from his injuries, when he discovers that Ikki has gone to Death Queen Island(DQI) in order to battle Jango, who as ruler of DQI, aims to rule the world from the shadows, Seiya insists on going to help Ikki. The bronze saints defeat the devil saints, Phoenix Ikki defeats the black Phoenix and Jango. But once Jango is defeated, Arles casts a spell that initiates earthquakes and volcanoes on DQI and begins to destroy the island with the bronze saints still on it. But Saori uses her Athena powers to save them from harm.

31. The Line Between Life And Death

May 30, 1987

Andromeda and Cygnus are challenged by two Silver Saints, Dante and Capella. They have been sent by the Pope to bring saori to the Sanctuary. The Silver Saints overpower Andromeda and Cygnus and send them flying over the cliff, and are about to take hold of Saori when Phoenix comes to the rescue. Capella is killed and Dante is badly injured. As Phoenix is about to leave with injured Seiya and Saori, he is challenged again by Dante. Andromeda and Cygnus are able to crawl up the cliff in time to stop Dante. Phoenix leaves everything to the two, and goes off. They are finally able to defeat Dante.

30. Burning Cosmo of Love

May 23, 1987

Saori is taken away by Jamian's crows. Seiya catches up and is badly hurt in the battle to regain her. As Shina and Jamian prepare to kill them both, Saori uses her Cosmo Powers as Athena to defeat the two. Hyoga and Shun arrive and prepare to take Seiya to a hospital when Silver Cloth Saint, Auriga, Capella and Cerberus, Dante appear.

29. Crow Army Kidnapps Saori

May 16, 1987

Shiryu loses his sight after the battle against Silver Cloth Saint, Perseus, Argol and his Medusa Shield. The other Bronze Cloth Saints, Seiya, Hyoga and Shun pledge to keep fighting. Ikki leaves group after puarreling wth them. Pope Arles orders Silver Cloth Saint, Crow, Jamian to kidnap Saori. Jamian uses his crows to accomplish this mission.

28. Dragon's Sacrifice Blow

To save Seiya and Shun who have been changed into stones by the magic power of the Medusa's shield, Shiryu fights with Argol. He manages to kill Argol by blinding himself and with the help of three Steel Saints. Saori learns about the Steel Saints from Doctor Asamori. Will Shiryu survive and regain his eye-sight?

Seiya, Shiryu and Shun end up on an island in the Mediterranean Sea where they are challenged by Shina, with Spartan and Silver Cloth Saint, Perseus, Argol. Pegasus Seiya succeeds in defeating Shina, but Argol then turns Shun and him into stone using the magic power of his Medusa's sheild. Dragon Shiryu then takes on Argol, defending himself with his Dragon sheild. While they are battling, Spartan accidentally gets turned to stone. Meanwhile, Ikki and Hyoga are fllying to their rescue...

26. Friends or Foes? The Steel Saints

April 25, 1987

While fighting a losing battle with the Slver Saint, Babel, Seiya and the others notice 3 figures watching them. They appear to be Saints, they do not reveal who they are. Finally, when Cygnus, Hyoga is almost out of strength, they lend a hand to defeat Babel, and reveal that they are Steel Saints. Thay disappear before Seiya is able to learn anything more about them. (Ikki is afraid that they may be from another organization trying to get the Gold Cloth. ) Seiya and the others later leave for Greece to get more information about the Sanctuary, but their flight is sabotaged by one of Arles's Silver saints, Spartan, who uses telepathy to move objects, forces the plane to cruch-land on an island.

25. Fight on! United with Athena

Seiya returns from battle with Asterion victorious but himself badlyhurt. The Saints gather around Saori. 23. Silver Saint! The Proud Assassin

Marin is sent to Japan along with Silever Saint, with orders from the Pope, to kill Seiya. Silver Saintis many times as strong as Seiya is. They meet on a beach where Seiya is given the choice of killing himself, or being killed. Seiya chooses to fight although he is no match for Silver Saint. Marin steps in to kill Seiya, but it turns out that she did not really kill him. Silver Saint realizes this , and challenges Seiya again.

22. Phoenix Ikki!

Giggars orders the Flame Saint to retrieve the Mask of Sagittarius Gold Saint Cloth while Seiya and other 2 members of the Bronze 4 Saints are out of Japan. They capture Tatsumi and learns from him that the mask is in a mountain villa, where Saori and Shun hide themselves to protect the mask. Shun changes himself into Andromeda and fights against Flame Saint. When Andromeda is in danger of being destroyed, Phoenix Ikki appears out of the fire......

21. A Fight on the Ice Field

Hyoga sets out for Shiberia to save the villagers, where Crystal Saint awaits him to get rid of him. Marin tells Seiya that Hyoga is in danger of being klled by his master. Seiya hurries to Siberia to save him. While Hyoga fights against the Crystal Saint, he is surprised to learn that his master, Crystal Saint has lost his soul to the evil Pope Arles......

20. Shina's Counterattack

March 7, 1987

Shina schemes to kill Seiya in revenge for Docrates and Gyste. When Seiya comes to the Sanctuary, Greece, in order to see Marin, Shina ambushes him just outside. He is nearly killed, but Marin saves him and lets him know that Hyoga is in danger of being killed by his master, Crystal Saint, who has lost his soul to the evil Pope Arles. Seiya sets out for Siberia.

19. Life or death? Blood on Hell's Island

February 28, 1987

Seiya and the other members of the Bronze 4 Saints go to Hell's Island where Gyste and the Ghost Saints await them, in order to retrieve the Mask of Sagittarius Gold Saint Cloth. They run into many dangers along the way, and Seiya is the only one who manages to reach the castle where Gyste is. He almost meets his death there, but finally manages to get the mask back after killing Gyste.

18. Ghostly Caribbean Saints on the Rampage

February 21, 1987

Giggars orders Gyste, who has been exiled on a Carribean island, to get the Mask of Sagittarius Gold Saint Cloth from Seiya in exchange for her freedom. She enlists the aid of three Ghost Saints - Sea Serpent, Dolphin and Jellyfish to hijack a Grard Foundation tanker. They order the Bronze four Saints to bring the mask to the tanker. After battling with the Ghost Saints, they are attacked by phantom pirates, and lose the mask.

17. Save Saori!

February 14, 1987

Doctrates takes Saori hostage in order to get the mask of the Sagittarius Gold Saint Cloth from Seiya. He tells Seiya to come to the Colosseum and exchange the mask for Saori. There, Docrates manages to get the mask, but doesn't release Saori. After a fierce encounter with Docrates and his men, Seiya and the others succeed in getting both Saori and the mask back, but not the rest of the Sagittarius Gold Saint Cloth.

16. Docrates's Ferocious Attack

Seiya and the group return with only the Gold Cloth Mask retreived. They all decide to get some rest and plan out their strategy for retreiving the remaining eight parts. But before they make a move Docrates comes attacking to get the Mask and Saori is kidnapped, the ransom demanded being the Mask.

Phoenix Ikki reveals what happened in the Death Queen Island and what changed him into a man full of hatred. Bronze Saints try to persuade him to join them in fighting to get back the Gold Cloth. During the fight with Black Dragon, Shiryu decides to use his special blow 'Rozan - Shoryu Ha' even though he knows he shouldn't. Black Dragon learns from Shiryu what friendship really means, and decides to spare his life and dies. Seiya is finally pulled up by Shun and Shiryu from the bottom of the Valley. Shiryu tries to revive him. Soon Ikki appears in front of Shiryu and Shun and threatens to kill them to get rest of theGold Cloth. The battle between Ikki and Shun, Shiryu - will Seiya join the two.

12. Nebula Chains, Fight For The Friendship!

Seiya who got the Blaxj Pegasus' blow is dying at the foot of the Valley of Murder. Shiryu has revived owing to Mn and joins the others in the battle field. Shun tries to pull up Seiya from the bottom of the Valley using his Chain, but Seiya cuts the chain by himself. Shiryu arrives the site in time and tells Shun to go and save Seiya. Now Shiryu meets his counter-part, Black Dragon.

11. The Deadly Fight Between Seiya And Black Pegasus

The day has come. Seiya, Hyoga, Shun fly to the battle field, the Murder Valley to fight with Ikki and the Black Saints. The three spread. Kiki brings new Pegasus Sacred Cloth to Seiya, with which he fights with Black Pegasus. Shiryu is not yet back. Did he really lose his life to have the Saint Cloth restored? Cygnus, after fighting and winning Black Swan, gets to Ikki and about to begin a deadly fight with him.

Dragon Shiryu goes to China to have the Dragon and Pegasus Sacred Cloth repaired. After struggling through the Grave of Sacred Cloth, he finally meets Mu, the only person who can repair Sacred Cloth. But Shiryu is told he might lose his life to have them repaired. Shiryu decides to dare try. In Japan, Seiya anxiously waits for Shiryu to come back. The Saints get back four parts of the cloth but the rest is still in Ikki's hand. The Saints must get it back before Ikki uses it for his evil purpose.

Phoenix Ikki appears during the battle between Andromeda Shun and Unicorn Jabu. He's come back from the Death Queen Island where heawas sent to have training six years ago. He's now the leader of the Black Saints who have sold their Souls to the devil. He's come to send all the Saints to hell. The Galaxian Wars gets suspended because Ikki runs off with the Gold Cloth.

While Andromeda Cloth Saint, Shun fights with Unicorn, Jabu, his ebula Chain tells him there's a danger aproaching. What is the danger? Who is the enemy? When the box of Gold Cloth opens, they find out who it is...Phonenix, Andromeda's long-parted brother, Ikki. But, he's no longer Ikki who was gentle as well as strong. Ikki shouts at his little brotherShun and says, 'I'll kill you first!'

5. Miraculous Resurrection! The Cosmo of Friendship

November 15, 1986

Beaten by Seiya's attack, the heart of Shiryu stops. Though Seiya wins, through the battle, friendship between Seiya and Shiryu occurr. Seiya is also in the dangerous condition of his life after the hard battle. In order to save Shiryu's life, Seiya panched from Shiryu's back the other side of the same point that Seiya panched before with his cosmo burning.Gradually, Shiryu's heart starts to beat again.

4. Dragon with the invincible fist and shield

November 1, 1986

When the match between Pegasus Seiya and Dragon saint Shiryu starts, Shiryu's friend, Syunrei comes from Goroho, China to tell Shiryu that his master falls into a critical condition. Shiryu tries to end up the match as soon as possible. Seiya's cloth is destroyed by Shiryu and Dragon's fist. However, Seiya rises up for the purpose to find his sister. This episode ends at the moment both Seiya and Shiryu strike their blows.

3. Cygnus! The Warrior of the Ice Fields

October 25, 1986

The Cygnus Saint Hyoga fights against the Hydra Saint Ichi. Ichi attacks Hyoga with the fangs on his knuckle that penetrates Hyoga's Cloth. And the poison on the edge of the fangs threatens Hyoga. However, Ichi's arm is suddenly freezed by Hyoga's attack, while Hyoga is not damaged at all and the attack of the fangs is guarded by the Ice Cloth of Hyoga. Finally, Hyoga's special attack, Diamond Dust beats Ichi.

2. Burn up! Pegasus Meteor

October 18, 1986

In Japan, Galaxian Wars is held by Grard Foundation. The winner of the the Galaxian Wars tournament will get the Sagittarius Gold Cloth. Seiya expects to find his sister separated 6 years ago and decides to join in the Galaxian Wars tournament. The first opponent is Bear Saint, Geki. His Neck Hanging Tree ties Seiya's neck. However, Seiya breaks Geki's both arms. With the special attack., Pegasusu Ryuusei-Ken, Seiya won the first battle.
