Ep 26. The Shadow of Silence
- July 17, 2000
The Shadow of Silence is the twenty-sixth episode of the third season of Sailor Moon, also known as Sailor Moon S. It originally aired in Japan on December 3, 1994, and in North America on November 8, 2000.
The episode begins with Hotaru, the daughter of Professor Tomoe, waking up from a nightmare. She tells her father that she dreamed of a dark shadow that scared her. Meanwhile, the Sailor Senshi are discussing their next move in their fight against the Death Busters. They know that they need to find the three remaining Pure Heart Crystals to prevent the world from being destroyed, but they don't know where to look.
Later that day, Usagi and Chibi-usa meet up with Hotaru and her father. They invite Hotaru to come with them to the arcade, and she agrees. At the arcade, they run into Haruka and Michiru, who are also looking for the remaining Pure Heart Crystals. Suddenly, they all sense a strong presence of evil. The girls transform into Sailor Senshi and rush to investigate.
At an abandoned factory, they confront Eudial, a member of the Death Busters. Eudial has captured several innocent people and is using them to produce a Daimon, a monster created by the Death Busters. The Sailor Senshi successfully rescue the captives, but Eudial escapes.
Meanwhile, Hotaru has wandered off and is approached by Mistress 9, a mysterious woman who works with the Death Busters. Mistress 9 lures Hotaru into a dark room and reveals that she is the true mastermind behind the Death Busters. She reveals that Hotaru is actually a vessel for the entity known as Pharaoh 90, and that she will soon awaken and destroy the world.
The Sailor Senshi are soon alerted by Luna and Artemis, who sense the danger that Hotaru is in. They rush to the location and confront Mistress 9. But before they can do anything, Pharaoh 90 begins to awaken inside of Hotaru. The Sailor Senshi try to attack her, but their powers are useless against the power of Pharaoh 90.
However, just as all hope seems lost, Hotaru's father Professor Tomoe arrives on the scene. He reveals that he has been working for the Death Busters all along, but he has had a change of heart. He sacrifices himself to stop Pharaoh 90 from fully awakening, and in doing so, he also saves Hotaru.
The episode ends with the Sailor Senshi mourning the loss of Professor Tomoe. They know that they still have a long road ahead of them in their fight against the Death Busters, but they are more determined than ever to save the world and protect their loved ones.
