Safe House is a gripping thriller series that will keep you glued to your seat from beginning to end. The first episode of season one, appropriately titled "Episode 101," is a fantastic introduction to the series and sets the scene for all the action that is about to unfold.
The show follows the story of a former detective named Tom Brook (Stephen Moyer) and his wife, Sam (Zoe Tapper), who run a guest house in the Lake District of England. They are recruited by the police to turn their guest house into a safe house, where they will protect a family who has been targeted by a dangerous criminal.
The first episode introduces us to the Brook family and gives us an insight into their daily lives. We learn that Tom used to be a detective but decided to quit after a traumatic incident, which is hinted at but not fully explained until later in the series. Sam is a schoolteacher, but she has recently quit her job to focus on raising their two children. Their children, Louisa and Joe, are typical teenagers who have a great relationship with their parents but, like most teenagers, have their own secrets that they keep hidden from their parents.
Things start to get exciting when the police arrive at the guest house, asking Tom and Sam to take in a family who are in danger. The family consists of a mother, father and their two children, and we realize that they are on the run from a dangerous criminal. The father, named Robert, is a former informant for the police, and the criminal he helped put away has recently been released from prison and is seeking revenge.
As the episode progresses, we start to learn more about the family and the danger they are in. We also see Tom and Sam's reluctance to get involved and their fear for their own safety and the safety of their children. However, as events unfold, they start to sympathize with the family and become more determined to protect them.
The tension in the first episode is palpable, and the sense of danger and unease is ever-present. The acting is superb, with Stephen Moyer and Zoe Tapper delivering excellent performances as the Brook family. The guest actors who play the family in danger also do a fantastic job of conveying the fear and desperation of their situation.
Overall, the first episode of Safe House is an excellent start to the series. It introduces us to the characters and sets the scene for the rest of the series, and leaves us desperate to know what will happen next. If you're a fan of thrillers or crime dramas, then Safe House is a series that you won't want to miss. And the first episode is the perfect place to start.
