Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television is a comedy-mystery series that follows the unlikely partnership between Ryan Hansen, a self-absorbed actor, and Detective Mathers, a no-nonsense cop. In season 1 episode 2, titled Jane D'Oh!, the duo investigates a murder at a bakery.
The episode opens with Ryan and Mathers arriving at the scene of the crime, a bakery owned by Jane D'Oh. Jane is distraught and tells the detectives that her head baker, Hector, has been murdered. Ryan, who is more concerned with promoting himself on social media, starts filming a video for his followers while Mathers gets to work on the investigation.
Mathers quickly discovers that Hector had some enemies. One of his coworkers, a decorator named Beth, had a heated argument with him the day before. Hector's ex-wife also has a motive, as he was supposed to pay her alimony but had been falling behind on payments.
Meanwhile, Ryan is trying to impress Jane and her employees by making them laugh and showing off his acting skills. He even offers to stage a reenactment of the murder, but Mathers shuts that idea down. As the investigation continues, Mathers and Ryan uncover more clues that point to the killer's identity.
They learn that Hector was a part of an underground cooking club, where he met a woman named Sophia. Sophia admits to being at the bakery on the night of the murder, but she insists that she left before Hector was killed. Mathers doesn't believe her and confronts her with evidence that she's lying.
As the investigation reaches its climax, Ryan proves that sometimes even a self-absorbed actor can be helpful. He remembers a detail from earlier in the episode that ends up breaking the case wide open. Mathers apprehends the killer, and justice is served.
Jane D'Oh! is a fun and lighthearted episode that showcases the comedic talents of Ryan Hansen. While the murder mystery is intriguing, the real star of the episode is the banter between Ryan and Mathers. Their odd-couple dynamic provides plenty of laughs, and the show's signature meta humor adds an extra layer of entertainment. Fans of crime shows and comedy will both find something to enjoy in Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television.
