In the third episode of RWBY's first season, "The Shining Beacon (2)," we pick up where we left off in the previous episode. Ruby is still trying to make friends with her fellow students at Beacon Academy, but she is finding it difficult. She tries to talk to Weiss, but Weiss dismisses her and tells her to leave her alone.
Meanwhile, Blake is trying to keep a low profile. She doesn't want anyone to know about her past as a member of the White Fang, a terrorist organization that fought against the humans. She's afraid that if people find out, they won't trust her.
Yang is more outgoing than her sister and is making friends with some of the other students. She's especially interest in Jaune, a bumbling boy who wants to become a great warrior. She offers to help him train, and they start practicing together.
As the first day of school comes to a close, the students are told that they will be participating in a tournament. The tournament will pit the students against each other in a series of battles to see who is the strongest. The winner will get a prize, but more importantly, it will be an opportunity to prove themselves to their peers and their teachers.
The students are excited by the tournament, but they are warned that it will be dangerous. They are told that they will be fighting creatures of Grimm, vicious monsters that are a constant threat to humanity. The students are also warned that they must work together if they want to win.
The next day, the students gather in the arena for the tournament. They are divided into teams, and they discover that they will be fighting in a forest. The objective is to get to the other team's base and destroy their flag. Along the way, they will have to fight off the creatures of Grimm.
As the battle begins, the students quickly realize that they are in over their heads. The creatures of Grimm are stronger and more numerous than they expected, and they are having trouble working together. Jaune, in particular, is having a rough time. He has never fought before, and he doesn't know what he's doing.
But despite the difficulties, the students press on. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang work together to take down the monsters. Jaune, meanwhile, is saved from certain death by Pyrrha, a skilled warrior who is also participating in the tournament.
As the battle rages on, the students get closer and closer to the enemy base. But just when it looks like they might win, they are attacked by a giant Nevermore, a fearsome bird-like monster. The students are no match for it, and it seems like all hope is lost.
But then Ruby gets an idea. She remembers something her father told her: that her scythe can transform into a gun. She tries it out, and to her amazement, it works. With her new weapon, Ruby is able to take down the Nevermore and save her friends.
The battle ends, and the students are exhausted but victorious. They celebrate their win, but they also know that they have a long way to go before they are truly ready to face the creatures of Grimm. They know that they will have to work hard and train even harder if they want to survive.
In "The Shining Beacon (2)," the students of Beacon Academy learn that there is more to being a warrior than just strength. They must also have courage, teamwork, and a willingness to learn. As they face the challenges ahead, they will need all of these qualities and more if they want to survive and thrive.
