After the events of the previous episode, Jaune is feeling more confident in his abilities and his place at Beacon Academy. However, his new friends quickly discover that he has been lying about his transcripts and qualifications in order to attend the school. Feeling ashamed and embarrassed, Jaune distances himself from the group.
Meanwhile, as the Vytal Festival draws closer, tensions between the kingdoms of Remnant continue to rise. A group of Atlesian soldiers arrive at Beacon, causing suspicion and unease among the students. Ruby and Yang investigate and discover that the soldiers are searching for a dangerous criminal who has escaped from the Atlas military.
