- January 8, 1997
As Kenshin and his friends travel through the countryside, they come across a train carrying a significant amount of money that has been robbed by a group of bandits. The group is led by a woman named Fuuji who is known as the "Stickup Girl." Fuuji and her gang manage to escape with the money and split up to avoid capture.
Kenshin and his friends split up to search for the bandits. Kenshin and Yahiko come across a young girl named Taeko who has been robbed by Fuuji's gang and left stranded in the countryside. They offer to help Taeko and bring her back to town, where they hope to gather information about the bandits' whereabouts. Meanwhile, Sanosuke is hot on the trail of Fuuji's gang and causes a stir in the town when he begins asking questions about them.
Kenshin and Yahiko soon learn from the town's blacksmith that Fuuji is a skilled swordswoman who was once trained by the same master as Kenshin. They also discover that Taeko's father, a wealthy merchant, was the intended target of the bandits' robbery. Kenshin realizes that the bandits were likely hired to steal from Taeko's father in order to force him to sell his land to a wealthy businessman.
With this information, Kenshin formulates a plan to catch Fuuji and her gang. He and Yahiko dress up as Taeko's father and his bodyguard and offer themselves up as easy targets for the bandits. Meanwhile, Sanosuke continues to stir up trouble in the town and draws the attention of Fuuji and her gang.
As expected, Fuuji and her gang fall for Kenshin and Yahiko's trap and attempt to rob them. The two engage in a fierce battle with Fuuji, but Kenshin is able to best her with his Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu techniques. He spares Fuuji's life and offers her a chance to turn her life around, which she takes by helping him capture the businessman who was behind the robbery.
In the end, Taeko and her father are reunited and the businessman is brought to justice. Kenshin and his friends continue on their journey, knowing that they have been able to make a difference in the lives of the people they have encountered along the way.
