In Rurouni Kenshin season 1 episode 25, titled "The Crimson Pirate," we find Kenshin and Sanosuke on a ship as they enter a port town in search of the notorious pirate, Captain Kuro. The two are quickly approached by a young girl named Kaoru, who is looking for the same man due to him having taken her father's life.
As they make their way through the town, they encounter a group of men who are part of Kuro's crew. A fight ensues, and Kenshin and Sanosuke are able to fend them off with relative ease. However, the two quickly realize that Kuro is not to be taken lightly, as he is known to be a skilled fighter.
Meanwhile, Kaoru finds herself in trouble as she is captured by Kuro's crew and taken aboard his ship. There, she comes face-to-face with the captain himself. Kuro reveals that he had been a part of a secret government mission, but after the mission was deemed a failure, he was left to fend for himself. It was then that he turned to piracy as a way to survive. Kuro explains his motives for seeking revenge against Kaoru's father, who he believed had been responsible for his failed mission.
Kenshin and Sanosuke are able to board Kuro's ship and engage in a fierce battle with his crew. They manage to make their way to where Kaoru is being held captive, but are met with resistance from Kuro himself. The final fight between Kenshin and Kuro is intense, with both fighters displaying their incredible skills and determination.
Through their fight, Kenshin is able to convince Kuro to see the error of his ways and put an end to his life as a pirate. Though Kuro still has his own set of principles, he agrees to stop his piracy and let go of his hatred towards Kaoru's father. The episode ends with Kenshin, Sanosuke, and Kaoru leaving the town and setting off on their next adventure.
Overall, "The Crimson Pirate" is an action-packed episode that showcases the incredible fighting skills and strategic thinking of Kenshin and his friends. It also highlights the theme of seeking redemption and forgiving past wrongs, as Kuro's character undergoes a significant transformation throughout the episode.
