Jeff and Audrey are trying to have a romantic weekend at home without their friend Adam and his girlfriend Jen but their peace is disturbed by a group of children who are very loud and disruptive. They soon learn that their neighbors are hosting a birthday party for their son and didn't bother to tell anyone. Jeff and Audrey try their best to ignore the noise but it starts to affect their relationship leading them to have to confront their neighbors.
Meanwhile, Adam and Jen are having a disagreement over whether or not to have children. Adam is hesitant to have kids because his father was never really around when he was growing up. He doesn't want to repeat the same mistake. Jen, on the other hand, is eager to start a family and she thinks that Adam would make a great dad. This disagreement leads to tension between them and they seek advice from Russell on the matter.
Russell, who is known for his womanizing ways, surprisingly has some insightful advice for the couple and tells them that they need to decide for themselves whether or not they want children and not let anyone else's opinions influence their decision. He also reveals a surprising secret about his own father which leads Adam to re-evaluate his stance on fatherhood.
As the episode progresses, Jeff and Audrey's attempts to get their neighbors to quiet down escalate and they end up ruining the birthday party. They feel terrible for what they've done but their neighbors surprisingly take it well and share their own parenting struggles. Jeff and Audrey come to realize that having children can be difficult but it's also incredibly rewarding.
The episode ends with Adam and Jen reconciling and coming to a decision about starting a family. Jeff and Audrey also apologize to their neighbors and are invited to stay for cake. The group comes together over their shared experiences of the joys and challenges of parenthood.
