Ep 3. Kanaria

  • November 3, 2005

The episode "Kanaria" from the second season of Rozen Maiden introduces a new character named Kanaria, a doll who is part of the same collection of dolls that includes the main character, Shinku. Kanaria is a yellow doll who has a playful and mischievous personality, which is shown as she toys with Shinku and the other dolls.

The episode begins with Shinku and the other dolls discussing the sudden appearance of Kanaria. They are cautious and wary of her, as they are unsure of her intentions. They also discuss the rumors they have heard about her being a thief, which only adds to their suspicion.

Later, Kanaria shows up and challenges Shinku to a game of tag. Shinku initially refuses, but eventually agrees to play, only to discover that Kanaria is using the game to steal her key, which is necessary for her to become fully awakened. Shinku confronts Kanaria about her actions, and they have a heated exchange that ends with Kanaria leaving, still in possession of the key.

Shinku becomes anxious and frustrated without her key and decides to go after Kanaria to get it back. She eventually tracks her down to an abandoned mansion, where she discovers that Kanaria is being held captive by another doll named Barasuishou. Barasuishou is a dark and mysterious doll, who seems to have her own motives for capturing Kanaria.

Shinku confronts Barasuishou and demands that she release Kanaria and return the key. Barasuishou initially refuses, but eventually agrees to a trade - she will return the key in exchange for Shinku's Rosa Mystica, which is a powerful object that gives her life and energy.

Shinku is torn between giving up her Rosa Mystica and saving Kanaria. She knows that her Rosa Mystica is essential to her survival, but she also feels responsible for Kanaria's capture. She ultimately decides to trade the Rosa Mystica for the key, and saves Kanaria from Barasuishou's grasp.

The episode ends with Shinku and Kanaria returning to the other dolls, where they discuss their recent experiences and the lessons they have learned. Shinku reflects on the importance of trust and friendship, while Kanaria realizes that her actions were wrong and that she needs to be kinder to others.

Overall, "Kanaria" is an exciting and action-packed episode that introduces a new character and delves into the complex relationships and dynamics between the different dolls. It explores themes of trust, friendship, and morality, and sets up further intrigue and drama for future episodes.
