Ep 10. Tomoe
- January 12, 2006
Rozen Maiden season 2 episode 10, titled "Tomoe," opens with a flashback to Tomoe's childhood. She is seen running through a forest and stumbling upon a young girl with a broken doll. Tomoe repairs the doll with her own hair, and the girl thanks her. Years later, Tomoe has grown up and is living with the other dolls in the N-field.
Shinku and the other dolls are discussing how to deal with the remaining dolls that have yet to be defeated. They realize that they will eventually have to battle each other, and it is weighing heavily on their hearts. Tomoe is not present for the discussion, and it is revealed that she has been spending most of her time with a young girl named Nori.
Nori is a kind-hearted girl who is confined to a wheelchair due to a genetic disease. She is a talented artist and creates detailed drawings of the dolls, which Tomoe brings back to the N-field to show the other dolls. One day, Nori tells Tomoe that she wants to visit the N-field and meet the other dolls. Tomoe hesitates at first, knowing that the other dolls might not be as accepting of humans as she is. However, she ultimately agrees to take Nori to the N-field.
Upon arriving, Nori is fascinated by the dolls and their beauty. The dolls are initially wary of her, but Tomoe quickly puts them at ease and they begin to warm up to Nori. Meanwhile, Shinku has become increasingly concerned about the other dolls, as some of them have been acting strange and she suspects that they may be under the influence of the evil doll, Kirakishou.
As the dolls continue to spend time with Nori, they begin to realize that despite her physical limitations, she is a truly pure and kindhearted person. They also begin to see Tomoe in a new light, understanding that her attachment to Nori stems from a desire to protect and care for her.
As the day comes to a close and Nori prepares to leave, the dolls gather together to give Nori a heartfelt goodbye. Tomoe is moved to tears by the dolls' kindness, and Nori is equally grateful for the experience. As Nori leaves, one of the other dolls, Suigintou, takes Tomoe aside and reveals that she knows about Tomoe's past and her desire to protect others. Tomoe is surprised by Suigintou's insight but is grateful for her understanding.
The episode ends with the realization that even though the dolls may have to battle each other eventually, they are still capable of compassion and kindness towards others. Through their interactions with Nori, the dolls come to understand the importance of protecting those who are vulnerable, and they realize that their greatest strength lies not in their fighting abilities, but in their love and empathy towards each other and towards humans.
