In Roseanne season 7 episode 13, titled "Rear Window," the Conner family is faced with a heat wave in their hometown of Lanford, Illinois, which leads them all to become increasingly irritable and restless. Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) and Dan (John Goodman) are stuck inside their home due to the hot weather and are watching their neighbors through their rear window.
The family becomes increasingly invested in the lives of their neighbors as they attempt to distract themselves from the heat. Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and Becky (Lecy Goranson) become particularly enamored with the neighbor, who they call "Mr. Right," and watch as he flirts with various women on his patio. Meanwhile, Jackie’s younger boyfriend, Fisher (Matt Roth), becomes increasingly jealous of a younger neighbor who Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) has been spending a lot of time with.
As the heat continues to rise, tensions run high in the Conner household. Dan becomes increasingly frustrated with his job and the fact that they can’t afford to buy an air conditioner. Roseanne becomes increasingly bored and restless, wishing for some excitement in her life.
Soon, things take a turn towards the dramatic when Roseanne and Dan witness something suspicious through their rear window. The family begins to investigate and become more invested in their neighbor’s lives than ever before.
"Rear Window" is a classic Roseanne episode that is both funny and dramatic as the Conner family is forced to contend with the boredom and restlessness that comes with being cooped up inside during a heat wave. As always, the episode is filled with the signature humor and charm that has made Roseanne a beloved show for decades.
