For He's Not a Jolly Good Fellow is the second episode of the first season of the American TV sitcom, Roc.
The episode begins with Roc's brother, Joey, coming back to their house after he has been released from jail. Roc is surprised and unhappy to see him as he had promised their mother that he would take care of Joey while he was in prison. However, Joey had broken out of jail, and Roc had to face the consequences of his brother's actions. Roc is worried about how his wife, Eleanor, will react to Joey's arrival, as she has never been fond of him.
As Roc tries to convince Joey to return to prison and finish his sentence, Eleanor walks in, and her reaction to Joey's arrival is as expected. She does not want him in the house, citing the fact that he has been in prison for robbery and is a bad influence on their son, Joey Jr. Roc tries to explain Joey's actions to Eleanor, but she is unyielding.
As the episode progresses, Roc's mother, known as "Mrs. Emerson," visits the house. She is shocked to see Joey there, as she was under the impression that Roc had followed through with his promise to take care of Joey in prison. As Roc tries to explain the situation to his mother, she reveals that Joey has only himself to blame for his recent troubles. She tells Roc that he needs to be strict with Joey and make him understand the consequences of his behavior.
Meanwhile, Joey Jr. is excited to see his uncle and wants to spend time with him. However, Eleanor is not keen on the idea, and Roc tries to find a middle ground so that Joey Jr. can spend time with his uncle without compromising his upbringing. As the family struggles to cope with the situation, Joey keeps insisting that he wants to stay with Roc and Eleanor, even if it means going back to prison once he is caught.
Towards the end of the episode, Roc has a heart-to-heart with Joey, where he explains the gravity of the situation and tells him that he needs to take responsibility for his actions. As Joey Jr. tries to sneak out to spend time with Uncle Joey, Roc confronts him and tells him that he cannot allow him to see his uncle because he does not want his son to be influenced by negative behavior.
In the final moments of the episode, Joey sees a photo of himself with Roc and Joey Jr. and realizes the gravity of the situation. He understands that he needs to take responsibility for his actions and accepts Roc's advice to turn himself in and face the consequences of his actions.
For He's Not a Jolly Good Fellow is an insightful episode that deals with issues such as responsibility, family, and morality. It shows how even in trying circumstances, love and compassion can help resolve conflicts and bring families closer together.
