In the fourth episode of Robson Green's Coastal Lives, the actor and presenter continues his journey along the stunning coastal regions of the UK, meeting the people who live and work there.
Robson starts off in the county of Cornwall, where he meets a couple who own a traditional wooden boatyard. They teach him about the history of wooden boat-making and the importance of preserving the craft. Robson then gets to try his hand at the craft, finding it much harder than it looks.
Next, Robson heads to a beachside hotel in Devon, which is run by a mother and daughter team who have turned their family home into a thriving business. They take Robson horse-riding on the beach and show him how important it is to make the most of the local area.
In Dorset, Robson meets a man who has transformed his garden into a miniature version of the Jurassic coast. The man is passionate about fossils and has created a garden containing over 2,000 fossils. Robson finds it fascinating and even discovers a rare fossil himself.
The next stop on Robson's journey is the Isle of Wight, where he meets a retired couple who have turned their home into a nature reserve. They give Robson a tour of the reserve, pointing out rare and endangered species. They also show him how to make traditional crab pots which they use to catch crabs.
In Suffolk, Robson meets a couple who have transformed a derelict lighthouse into their dream home. They show Robson around the lighthouse and explain how they have preserved its history while adding modern amenities. Robson is impressed by their dedication and commitment.
Finally, Robson heads to the rugged coast of Northumberland, where he meets a fisherman who has been catching crabs and lobsters for over 50 years. The fisherman takes Robson out on his boat and shows him how to catch crabs. Robson finds it more challenging than he imagined but is thrilled when he finally catches one.
Throughout the episode, Robson is amazed by the resilience and adaptability of the people he meets. Their love for their local area and their determination to preserve its history and heritage is inspiring. He also finds himself falling in love with the stunning coastline of the UK and the unique communities that call it home.
