Robocar Poli is an animated television series that follows the adventures of four rescue vehicles, Poli, Roy, Amber, and Heli who work together to help the citizens of Broomstown. In season 1 episode 13 titled “I Love You, Grandpa!”, the team is faced with a heartwarming situation involving one of their youngest citizens.
The episode starts with the excited citizens of Broomstown preparing for the annual Children's Day celebration where they would perform on stage. As the children practice their dance moves, we see the cute and bubbly little girl, Cindy, practicing with her grandpa. Grandpa is an old ex-firefighter who is still a child at heart. He is constantly pulled into his granddaughter’s world of fun and games, playing along with her every whim, while teaching her valuable life lessons.
The day of the celebration arrives and Cindy is eagerly awaiting her turn to perform. But when it’s her turn, Cindy is suddenly overcome with stage fright and runs off crying. Her grandpa immediately takes her to Poli for help. Poli calms Cindy down and offers to help her get back on stage with confidence.
As Poli and Cindy rehearse, they are interrupted with a distress call. Mr. Builder, the head of construction in Broomstown, informs the team that one of the buildings they are working on has started to crack and collapse. The team quickly rushes to the site to assess the situation.
Upon reaching the site, they realize that the builders had been working without safety precautions. The machines and vehicles used in the construction site were also not following safety regulations, which had resulted in damaged building structures. Poli immediately requests the builders to stop their work and informs them that safety protocols must be followed at all times.
During the commotion at the construction site, Cindy’s Grandpa receives a call on his phone and excuses himself. Cindy, who is still nervous about performing, follows him and sees him in tears after the phone call. Cindy asks her grandpa if everything is okay, and he reveals to her that his old friend, who was a fire fighter, passed away.
Cindy, with a heavy heart, decides against the performance as she feels guilty about enjoying the day when her grandpa's friend had just passed away. Poli and the team decide to cheer up Cindy by making her realize that the best way to make her grandpa feel better is by performing on stage. After all, her grandpa had put in so much effort in rehearsals and was so proud of her.
Poli and the team get creative and soon manage to put together a surprise stage show for Cindy’s grandpa, which included her performance. When Cindy finishes her performance, everyone is amazed, especially Grandpa, who is beaming with pride. He overcomes his sadness and realizes that his friend would have loved the show, and that he must always remember to live and cherish life.
