Ep 2. Chevy vs. Ford Cop-Car Thrash Battle!
- February 7, 2013
In the second episode of Roadkill season 2, titled "Chevy vs. Ford Cop-Car Thrash Battle!", viewers are taken along for the ride as hosts David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan pit two unlikely cars against each other: a 1974 Chevrolet Impala and a 1978 Ford LTD, both former police cruisers.
The premise of this episode is simple: which of these cars makes for a better "cop-car" thrasher? To find out, the hosts take both vehicles on a three-part challenge, comprised of an oval track race, an off-road obstacle course, and a street shootout.
First up is the oval track. Before the race begins, the hosts make some quick modifications to their cars: upgrading the Impala's suspension, adding a roll cage, and bolting on some new tires. On the Ford's side, they swap out the carburetor, install a nitrous oxide injection system, and throw on a few extra fuel tanks.
With their respective upgrades complete, the race begins. It's a tight contest as the cars jostle for position, but ultimately the Ford suffers from fuel delivery issues, giving the Impala the edge it needs to take home the win.
Next, the hosts take their cars off-road for a grueling obstacle course that tests both their cars and their driving skills. On the Impala, the upgraded suspension proves its worth as David and Mike are able to power through the rough terrain with relative ease. On the Ford, things aren't going quite as smoothly - the heavy weight of the car and the lack of ground clearance make it a struggle to navigate the course's many bumps and dips.
Despite some setbacks, both cars manage to make it through the course, with the Impala once again coming out ahead thanks to its superior performance and handling.
Finally, the hosts take their cars to the streets for a battle of acceleration and top speed. This time, the Ford has the upper hand thanks to its nitrous injection system - at least, until it runs out of juice halfway through the run.
In the end, it's clear that both the Impala and the Ford have their respective strengths and weaknesses. But when it comes down to it, the Impala seems to edge out the Ford in terms of overall performance and drivability.
Along the way, viewers are treated to plenty of classic Roadkill-style banter and shenanigans, with David and Mike joking around and teasing each other throughout the challenges. Overall, "Chevy vs. Ford Cop-Car Thrash Battle!" is a fun and lighthearted episode that showcases two unlikely contestants and the thrill of a good ol' fashioned car battle.
