In Revenge season 4 episode 10, titled Atonement, Emily Thorne finally learns the truth about her father, David Clarke's, involvement in her childhood and the events leading up to his imprisonment. As she reels from this knowledge, Victoria Grayson scrambles to keep her own secrets from coming to light.
The episode opens with Emily visiting her father's grave, still grappling with the revelations she learned in the last episode. She is interrupted by his former cellmate, Nolan Ross, who tells her that David had a secret safe deposit box and left Nolan the key. Emily and Nolan head to the bank to open the box, where they find a tape recording from David that reveals the full truth about his past.
Meanwhile, Victoria is dealing with her own lies being exposed. She discovers that Margaux LeMarchal, the editor of Voulez, has been digging into her past and knows about her involvement in David's framing. Victoria tries to manipulate Margaux into dropping the story, even going so far as to reveal Margaux's own mother's dark secrets to her.
At a charity event hosted by the Graysons, Emily confronts Victoria about her lies and demands the truth. Victoria sticks to her own version of events, refusing to reveal the whole truth about David's involvement in her own downfall. However, Emily has a surprise up her sleeve, revealing that she has the tape recording from David's safe deposit box and playing it for everyone to hear.
The recording confirms that David did in fact commit the crimes he was accused of, but only did so under duress from the real culprits behind the bombing of Flight 197. It also reveals the truth about Victoria's involvement in framing him and her subsequent attempts to have him killed in prison.
As Victoria reels from this public humiliation, Emily has a final confrontation with David's former partner-in-crime, Malcolm Black. With the help of Jack Porter and David's former associate, Kate, Emily lures Black into a trap and exacts her revenge on him for his role in her father's death.
The episode ends with Emily and Nolan listening to a final recording from David, in which he expresses his hope that his daughter can finally find peace and move on from his legacy of pain and revenge.
Overall, Revenge season 4 episode 10 is a tense and powerful episode that sees Emily and Victoria finally confront the truth about their pasts and their roles in the events that led them to their current feud. With the season heading towards its conclusion, the stakes are higher than ever, and the characters are forced to reckon with the consequences of their actions.
