In the episode "Surrender" of the third season of the television show Revenge, Emily Thorne faces some major setbacks in her mission to take revenge on the people who wronged her family. The episode opens with Emily in the hospital, recovering from the explosion that happened in the previous episode. While there, she is visited by Victoria Grayson, who once again tries to convince Emily to give up her code of vengeance. Emily's response is that she wants to finish what she started, even if it means putting her life at risk.
Meanwhile, Conrad Grayson is still fighting for his gubernatorial campaign, but he enlists Emily's help in tracking down Pascal LeMarchal, who has gone missing. Pascal is a rival to Conrad in the business world, but Conrad needs his endorsement for the campaign. Emily agrees to look for Pascal, but she has her own agenda in mind. She suspects that Pascal may have some information about her father's death, and she is determined to find out what it is.
As Emily investigates Pascal's disappearance, she discovers that he has a daughter named Margaux who is also looking for him. Margaux is a journalist who has been investigating some of the shady dealings of the Grayson family, and she suspects that her father's disappearance may be connected to it. Emily and Margaux team up to find Pascal, but they soon realize that they have different goals in mind. Margaux wants to expose the Graysons for their crimes, while Emily wants to use any information they find to further her own agenda.
Elsewhere in the episode, Jack Porter is dealing with the fallout from his involvement in the explosion. His bar, The Stowaway, has been shut down due to the damage, and he is struggling to figure out how to pay for the repairs. He turns to Emily for help, but she is preoccupied with her own mission. Jack also begins to suspect that there is more going on with Emily than she is letting on, and he starts to investigate her past.
As the episode progresses, Emily and Margaux's search for Pascal leads them to a shocking discovery. They find evidence that Conrad was responsible for a tragedy that happened years ago, and they are determined to use it against him. However, their plans are derailed when they are caught by the Graysons. Conrad and Victoria use their power and influence to turn the situation to their advantage, leaving Emily and Margaux at a disadvantage.
"Surrender" is a fast-paced episode full of twists and turns. It further develops Emily's character and shows her willingness to put everything on the line to achieve her goals. It also introduces Margaux as a new player in the revenge game, and hints at a potential alliance between her and Emily. The episode sets up several plot threads that will be explored in future episodes, making it a pivotal moment in the show's overall narrative.
