Emily Thorne, the show's protagonist, continues to plot her revenge against those who wronged her father in episode 9 of Revenge's first season. Titled "Suspicion," the episode delves deeper into Emily's plan, while also introducing new subplots and characters to the show.

The episode opens with Emily Thorne (played by Emily VanCamp) meeting with local gallery owner, Felicity LeBrassuer (played by Diaan Lawrenson). Emily presents Felicity with a painting as a gift, and then uses the opportunity to search the gallery's inventory for a particular painting that is currently missing. Felicity grows suspicious of Emily's interest, but Emily manages to deflect her questions and leave the gallery undetected.

Meanwhile, Conrad Grayson (played by Henry Czerny), Victoria's husband, holds a charity fundraiser at his home to raise money for New York City's struggling public schools. The event is attended by all of the Hamptons' elite, including Nolan Ross (played by Gabriel Mann), Emily's ally and confidant. Emily approaches Nolan at the event and enlists his help in searching for the missing painting from Felicity's gallery, by using his knowledge of the art world and his connections.

At the fundraiser, Daniel Grayson (played by Joshua Bowman), Victoria's son and Emily's love interest, receives a text message from Tyler Barrol (played by Ashton Holmes), his roommate from college and a recent addition to the show's cast. Tyler, who has been struggling with financial problems, asks Daniel for some help in the form of a loan to cover his rent. Tyler also expresses interest in working for Daniel at the family business, Grayson Global.

Back at Emily's beach house, Emily and Nolan continue their discussions, and Emily grows increasingly suspicious that Tyler may have ulterior motives for getting close to Daniel and the Grayson family. Emily tasks Nolan with investigating Tyler, and Nolan agrees to help her.

As the episode progresses, viewers are introduced to Ashley Davenport (played by Ashley Madekwe), Victoria's assistant, who plays a key role in the subsequent seasons of the show. Ashley catches the eye of Daniel at the fundraiser, and the two begin to flirt and hit it off. Ashley also makes a play to further her own career by asking Victoria to recommend her for a position at the New York Times' society column.

Towards the end of the episode, the plot thickens as Nolan discovers some potentially incriminating evidence about Tyler. Emily continues to work towards her ultimate goal of revenge against the Grayson family, and the missing painting becomes a key element in her plan. The episode ends with a dramatic twist that leaves viewers wanting more, as all the characters must deal with the consequences of their actions and decisions.

Overall, Revenge season 1 episode 9 "Suspicion" delivers on the show's trademark blend of intrigue, drama, and suspense. The episode introduces new characters and subplots, while also advancing the overarching plot of Emily's quest for revenge. With strong performances from the cast, tight writing, and well-crafted visuals, "Suspicion" is an engaging and riveting episode that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.
