As the title suggests, the third episode of Resident Alien's sophomore season is all about the girls. The episode titled 'Girls' Night' brings together several female characters and offers a refreshing change of pace from the main storyline.
The episode begins with Harry (played by Alan Tudyk) struggling to understand human interactions as usual. He decides to tag along with Asta (Sara Tomko) to a girls' night out at the bowling alley. The night seems to be going well until a group of rowdy men enters the alley, causing chaos. This prompts Asta to take matters into her own hands, and she unleashes her inner badass on the men.
Meanwhile, D'arcy (Alice Wetterlund) has her own plans for the night and invites Max (Judah Prehn) over for a sleepover. However, things take an unexpected turn when Max's mother comes to pick him up, and D'arcy realizes she might have feelings for the woman.
The central conflict of the episode revolves around Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) trying to mend his relationship with his daughter Jay (Alexis Lobato). The two have been estranged for quite some time, and Mike is determined to make things right. However, his attempts to connect with Jay are met with resistance, and he struggles to find a way to bond with her.
The episode offers some great character development for Asta, who is usually relegated to the sidelines in the main plot. Her tough and no-nonsense attitude is on full display, and it's refreshing to see her take charge of the situation. Additionally, D'arcy's storyline adds some much-needed diversity to the show and showcases a different side of LGBTQ representation.
Overall, 'Girls' Night' is a fun and lighthearted episode that deviates from the show's usual dark and twisted themes. It's a great standalone episode that highlights the strengths of the supporting cast and brings new layers to their respective characters. Plus, who doesn't love a good bowling alley brawl?
