Jake Doyle is back in action for the tenth episode of Republic of Doyle season three, titled "One Angry Jake." After being falsely accused of a crime he didn't commit and subsequently acquitted, Jake is not in the mood to take on new case work. However, the Doyle family business is in trouble and needs Jake's help to stay afloat.
The episode opens with Jake and his father, Malachy Doyle, sitting in their favourite bar, The Black Shamrock. Malachy is worried about the future of Doyle and Doyle Investigations, as they are losing business to their rival detective agency, the McMurphy's. Meanwhile, Jake is trying to move on from his ordeal and start a new chapter in his life.
However, things take a turn when a former client of theirs, Uncle Des, comes to them with a new case. Uncle Des is under house arrest and needs Jake's help to clear his name. It seems that Uncle Des was framed for a robbery that he did not commit, and the only person who can prove his innocence has gone missing. Jake is hesitant to take on the case at first, but his sense of justice and loyalty to his former client ultimately wins out.
As Jake begins to investigate, he soon realizes that the evidence against Uncle Des is circumstantial at best. He also discovers that the true culprit behind the robbery is much closer to home than anyone could have guessed. Jake becomes increasingly angry as he uncovers more and more evidence, determined to bring the real perpetrator to justice.
As the episode progresses, we see Jake's anger and determination become more and more pronounced. He lashes out at those around him and becomes increasingly volatile as he works to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, his father and business partner, Malachy, try to keep him grounded and focused on the task at hand.
The tension in the episode builds to a climactic conclusion, as Jake confronts the true culprit behind the robbery. Without giving anything away, let's just say that the conclusion will have viewers on the edge of their seats.
