In Reno 911! season 2 episode 5, titled "Religion in Reno," the officers of the Reno Sheriff's Department must navigate a series of religious disturbances in the city.
The episode begins with the arrival of a group of Hare Krishnas who are fundraising in a local park. Deputy Trudy Wiegel (Kerri Kenney-Silver) becomes fascinated with their practices and tries to convert to the religion, much to the dismay of her colleagues. Meanwhile, Deputy Travis Junior (Robert Ben Garant) is busy dealing with a group of Christian protesters who are picketing a strip club.
As the day goes on, the religious tensions in the city escalate. A local synagogue is vandalized, and the Sheriff's Department is called to investigate. Deputy Clementine Johnson (Wendi McLendon-Covey) tries to interview witnesses, but gets sidetracked by her own spiritual journey. She ends up trying to convert an Orthodox Jew to Christianity, with disastrous results.
Throughout the episode, the officers of the Reno Sheriff's Department struggle to maintain order in the face of religious intolerance and confusion. They encounter a number of bizarre characters, from a Satanist to a group of New Age spiritualists. Through it all, they attempt to maintain their own beliefs while respecting the beliefs of others.
