Reno finds himself an unwilling celebrity while in San Diego tracking notorious party coordinator Donald "Ranger" DeWitt (STEVEN FLYNN), who is responsible for the near-death of a teenage party-goer. Attempting to capture the elusive party man, Reno is thwarted by Ranger's uncanny recognition of the Renegade, as well as Reno's sudden fame due to local late-night disc jockey Lydia Contreau (KATE HODGE) .Contreau, who attended Reno's trial, chats with listeners nightly about his plight, much to the dismay of Reno and to the delight of Lieutenant Dutch Dixon (recurring guest star STEPHEN J. CANNELL), who rushes to San Diego in search of Reno. With Dixon close by, Reno manages to nab DeWitt only to find that he is in fact Dixon's son, causing Reno to question what new plot Dixon has devised.
