Mordecai and Rigby decide to take a different approach to life and try to think positively about everything in their lives. They believe that by doing so they will attract good things and positive energy in their lives. However, their positivity soon becomes too extreme and they become oblivious to the negative effects of their actions. Benson, the park manager, is forced to intervene when their positivity jeopardizes the park's operations. Meanwhile, Pops, the owner of the park, faces his own challenges when he is visited by a group of old acquaintances who bring back memories of his past.
Mordecai and Rigby's decision to think positively seems like a great idea at first. They adopt a new attitude towards their work at the park and start treating it like a fun adventure rather than a boring job. They even go as far as to put on positivity goggles that literally make everything look positive. They begin to experience pleasant surprises and opportunities seem to come their way more effortlessly. This newfound attitude even seems to rub off on their coworker Muscle Man, who usually has a pessimistic attitude.
However, their extreme positivity leads to carelessness and neglect. They begin to disregard important tasks such as cleaning the park, maintaining the equipment and attending to customer inquiries. Their positivity even leads them to believe that a trash mountain in the park is a good thing because it can be used as a tourist attraction. Benson, who is their supervisor, notices the deterioration of the park's operations and tries to talk to them. However, they are so blinded by their positivity that they do not heed his advice.
Meanwhile, Pops is enjoying his day until he is visited by three old acquaintances named Alpha-Dog, The Hammer and Gary. These visitors bring back memories of a dark incident in Pops' past that he has been trying to suppress. Pops struggles to keep his cool and cope with the stress of the situation. His friends notice that he is behaving differently and try to figure out what is going on.
The episode highlights the danger of extremism in thinking and behavior. Mordecai and Rigby's positivity becomes so extreme that they lose touch with reality. They forget that there are negative aspects to their work that need to be addressed. In contrast, Pops' trauma from his past is so extreme that he has been unable to deal with it effectively. The episode emphasizes that while positivity is important, it is equally important to address negative aspects of our lives in a realistic manner.
The episode also showcases the importance of friends and mentors in our lives. Benson takes on the role of a mentor and tries to give Mordecai and Rigby practical advice on how to balance their positivity with their responsibilities. Meanwhile, Pops' friends notice that he is struggling and offer their support. The episode highlights that we all need guidance and support from others to cope with the challenges of life.
Overall, Think Positive is an entertaining and thought-provoking episode of Regular Show. The episode is a reminder that balance is key in life and that positivity should not be taken to extremes. The episode also emphasizes the importance of friends and mentors in our lives. The episode showcases the show's humor and creativity while exploring deeper themes.
