Red Widow is a serial crime drama and thriller that debuted on March 3, 2013 on ABC network in the United States. It is about one women doing whatever she has to protect her family and take vengeance after the death of her husband. It is written by Melissa Rosenberg, who has had much success in the film industry. She also is the shows executive producer. Additionally, it was adapted from a television series that was produced in Dutch in 2010. The show stars Radha Mitchell as the titular Red Widow. The rest of the cast features supporting roles from Goran Visnjic, Clifton Collins Jr., Jaime Ray Newman, Wil Traval, and Luke Goss.

The story takes place in the suburbs of San Francisco, California. Radha Mitchell plays an everyday housewife named Marta. She happens to be the daughter of a Russian mobster and the wife of a drug smuggler. Throughout her life, she has chosen to look the other way and ignore these proceedings. Her life dramatically takes a turn for the worse when her brother (Wil Taval) tries to rip off a mob boss. This leads to her husband (played by Anson Mount) being murdered. Now, she is forced to work for the mob to make sure no more harm comes to her family. When Marta is not working for the mob she is taking care of her three children and trying to turn around the misfortune of her family. Thus, half the show depicts her learning the trade of organized crime and the other half has her keeping up with being a housewife.

ABC Productions picked up the show in 2012, which will consist of eight episodes. It airs on Sunday nights and each episode runs for 60 minutes.
